Default Stock dunflops

With all the people who said their stockers only made it to 15k or less, I figured I'd share this:



Pulled them off at 28k and they still hadn't hit the wear bars just yet. I really wanted to ride them out and see how far they'd go, but with how much snow we're already getting I just didn't have the balls to try to do it. This was mixed driving, but mostly back roads on my way to and from work, where I'd beat on them a bit in turns some days.

Rotated them every 6k, and never changed the stock alignment. I may not have been doing e-brake burnouts and shit like some of you, but I certainly didn't drive like a bitch. I couldn't even begin to count the number of rolling burnouts, and towards the end I would say it became daily routine to rape them at least once. lol I'd take off from a light, rape 1st or 2nd in hopes of heating them up enough to stick third.

So every time I read a post where people said they were junk and wore them out in 15k or whatever, all I could think about was this:

Yeah, mine lasted 22k. Still had tread, but they turned into hockey pucks. I sure had a hay on my way to the tire shop. :-)

I've considered putting them on the new wheels and seeing how much more abuse/mileage they can take. Part of me wants to, but part of me wants more traction. lol We'll see.

I got 32 k out of mine. Give up on them. I went to the DWS and they are better than the dunlops in all conditions. You will also love how much quieter the new tires are. The dunlops became unbelievably loud for me at the end.

Edit: I should add that they were bald with the cords hanging out of two of them. It was summer when they got that bad so I was able to suck it up for my five mile commute

Those might be next. Although I have a set of 16s for winter now, so I'm considering getting some really grippy tires since I don't need them to be all seasons.

I gave up on mine at 4/32nds left, probably around 15-20,000km on them (had winters and didn't keep close track of kms between each set). They might not be finished but short of hot dry pave they just didn't have anything going for them. Wet traction was getting a little wishy-washy and if it were even a bit cooler out they had no grip at all.

I didn't buy tires yet, but I'm suppose to be getting RPF1s by the end of the month. I need to do my homework on tires. Trying to get something good, but not something that will wear at an atrocious rate.

17x9? That seems to be the most common choice for RPF1's

i had a set of them in 18x7.5 (pic in my avatar). Although not ideal size, they are still light as fuck and with 235's on them, traction isnt too bad

I like the stockers and hope that I won't miss them when they're gone. But I've always liked the RPF1s and this is an opportunity to get some, when normally I wouldn't drop money on a non functional mod. Plus, they're light weight, so I can still justify them as functional.

I have to say they only lasted me like 12-15k miles. Each time.
I've had three sets of stock Dunflops on my car because I got two that had >75% tread left for free and couldn't turn down free rubber.
When I get my TSW's mounted though, gunna wrap them in some really nice tires. I'll really need traction at that point. Lol

Mine lasted right at 15K. It wasn't the treadlife, it was the track day at Gingerman for EMWNM. Started chunking like a bitch. I'll see if I can find the pic of them. Couldn't safely ride on them anymore.

I highly recommend the pilot sport AS3's if you decide to go all season. Otherwise the super sports are awesome if you want higher end rubber.

I got about 16k on the Dunlops before the edge wear was getting bad and I got a puncture on the shoulder. Without those two issues I'd have seen 25k easy

dont need all seasons, i have a set of winter wheels with altimax arctics which are on now
i had the opportunity to test them out on a deserted road covered in about 2 inches of snow today, other tire tracks were on it so some of the snow was packed down and slick... didnt lose control at all after cutting the wheel back and fourth, fucking things impressed me

cheapest place i found so far for new tires was sears... just over 900 for pilot super sports mounted and balanced

I meant to get an alignment for a while now, i never really looked at the tires until I took them off for this winter.
Hopefully other people will actually read what I read from other people posting here about aggressive toe and shitty factory alignment and get that corrected to get some more life out of the dunlerps

I'm still running the stocky dunfloppies at 7200 miles. I was impartial to the tires initially, but after a day autocrossings, I was less than impressed. A lot of factors played into the day, it was cold and my tire temps were staying super low. In an effort to get some more grip, I bled the tires a few psi for more bite. Ultimately the tires began rolling over sooner than I anticipated, and I was never able to find a sweet spot between give and grip. Took some life off the corners of the tires for sure.

I second the Pilot Sport AS3's. My Dunlops are still fine (only put 10k on them). I put Pilot Sport AS3's on about 2k miles ago, as the snow was coming, but we don't get tons of snow driving days where I live so all seasons make sense. The AS3's outperform the Dunlops in dry grip, completely destroy them on wet grip and have been quite manageable on light snow and occasional ice. The only gripe I have is they are slightly noisy, but nothing you don't adapt to really quickly.
