stock speed 3..... meh so i joined this awesome because hopefully ill be the proud owner of a speed3 really soon. i have read awesome things about these cars.. i even posted "why speed 3 over another car" and the ms3 has so much to offer.. .. anyway, i test drove a few... they were 99% stock, (maybe an exhaust or intake).. nothing crazy. anyway, it didnt FEEL that fast... granted i don't expect v8 600hp or anything crazy obviously.. ** i know that stock is limited power in low gears** i also read that 3rd gear is where the real power is at. and i didn't max it out too well on some runs, especially on local roads.. anyway, i know that probably every car on here is heavily modded, and im sure ill follow the same path as well... i guess my question is that, a stock speed3 gen pu compared to one with a few basic bolt ons + solid tune.. is it really night and day? does being stock and that boost limit really hold it back THAT much>? ive never road in a decently modded one so i can't easily compare **(i drove an A5 recently-automatic 220hp 2.0turbo. and it felt like the A5 pulled alittle more (while rolling). ps. i am also terrible at driving stick, so im sure that didn't help my test drives... reguardless i still want a ms3 :) |
do us all a favor and dont buy one. |
Buy a Honda Civic Si /thread |
Buy a Prius |
Go buy an A5, since you seem to like that better. |
You must not have been granny shifting and not double clutching like you should. |
LOL the A5 is a turd. Can't believe we are comparing an A5 to the MS3 |
I can't believe OP has asked essentially the same question in more than one thread, and no one has groaned him. It is as simple as this. Don't buy a car based on how other people like it. Buy it based on what you like. I understand trying to see what forums say about reliability and response to mods etc. But if you drive something and it feels "meh". Save yo money and move on. You have like 4 total posts and they all say basically the same shit. Just read some of the threads here for a day or so and you will have all the answers you need. With that said I love my pu. Won't call it fast, but fun as hell, sleeper, responsive, and thus far reliable. I look forward to modding it more and will keep it for a while. One of the best things about ownership is this forum and all the help here. |

Haha, God I love me some stupid Fast and Furious quotes. But to OP. I felt somewhat the same when I first took my car for a test drive, and I am currently feeling the same (I'm on a base tune waiting for my E tuner) but once you get a tune, even on a stock speed, the difference is ridiculously clear. It honestly feels like a different car. If I didn't have so much disposable income I probably would of stayed stock with a good E Tune. But as others have said, you cannot compare an A5 Automatic to a Speed 3. A speed is in its on class, and once you throw some mods/ tune at it, you wouldn't of even dream of having another car. Go with your gut, compare the cars you want, work out what is more affordable or fun. You can't pick a car because someone said to, that's a terrible way. If I somehow found having a civic to be fun, I would own one because I liked it, and that's all that matters. But seriously. FYHN! Speed all the way haha |
Based on the replies above you kind of sound like a turd. Put it this way. Aesthetically, if you like the car, than get the damn thing. Buy yourself a turboxs dp and a cai and I promise you it will feel like a different car. Oh, by the way... if you even think about mentioning the makers of the A5 in the presence of this group again, slap yourself. |
Probably redline shifting it. Undoubtedly not knowing how to shift or when to even shift a speed 3 and being clueless when it comes to cars, will an automatic be more appealing to you. Quit being gay. |
This is a redundant and pointless thread. OP already has another thread trying to get us to "convince" him to get an MS3. That gets a groan from me. -Are these cars slow from the factory? Kinda. -Do these cars feel a lot faster with basic bolt-on's and a tune? Yes. -Do these cars feel like a completely different car, power-wise, with full bolt-on's and a tune? No. At the end of the day, the K04 is the biggest restriction these cars have from the factory. It's a great turbo, the response is basically unbeatable coming out of the corners, but good response comes at the expense of top-end power, which means these cars are not set up from the factory for straight-line speed. You CAN set them up for straight-line speed, but that will require a big turbo and a few thousand in supporting mods. |
