Sweet Driving

Hey All,

Had a marvelous weekend. Hot chick in the car, only rough plan of getting to Halfmoon Bay in the evening. Left Sacto 9am drove to Vallejo took the turn to San Rafael. Third street toward Pt. Reyes through the redwoods.

A question popped up: As I was driving the bumpy windy road I got an intermittent beeping I thought was my radar det. I unplugged it and the beeping continued, it only occurred as I hit bumps.

I took a left on Highway 1 at Olema, CA and proceeded to enjoy the shit out of that glorious stretch of road along the coast. IMO a perfect road. Most of the other drivers would take the available turn outs and I would blast past with a wave or a honk. The beeping continued, again only when I hit uneven pavement. I pulled off and had a smoke and piss. Messed with the GPS resetting all the stuff I prefer that reverted to default when I unplugged the CPU.

After the car cooled off and all the passed cars got by we headed out again. It beeped once more and that was it. I was going to use the stereo to cover the noise... Damn idiopathic sounds. grr.

Our drive took us to the Golden Gate, which was packed especially with the Blue Angels doing a performance. Highway 1 from San Francisco was rather full and stop n go. We stayed at a friend's house. The next morning too the return trip up the coast and went most of the way to Jenner. If you have never driven on the coast I strongly recommend it!

I'm always looking for good driving roads. If you are in the know - please share your favorites.

Cheers,

G

In America blue ridge parkway has the best roads and has the best runs.

In south Texas, the best drive is the "Three Sisters" drive in the Texas Hill Country. Great for cars or motorcycles.

Lots of twists, turns, elevation changes and great scenery. Watch out for the popos though. The Three Sisters (AKA The Twisted Sisters)- Ranch Roads 335, 336,337a

Should re-think your requests...

As for that trip, it's one I've always wanted to do (but hard to get worked into my plans living out here in NYC...). Jealous. Closest thing we have here to real roads are Rt-17A up north, and NY-97 (the Hawk's Nest) up in Rockland County.

So...this beeping noise...I had it happen too, but I figured it out. Do you by any chance have an aux port for your stereo? If so, I would guess that you had nothing plugged into the port, and that you had your stereo turned ON, and that the volume was relatively high.

I found that whenever I hit either the accelerator or the brake pedal, there was a "beep" noise that came over the sound system. As soon as I switched it over to FM or CD, the noise disappeared, but whenever nothing is plugged into the Aux port (that I added on my MS6), and the stereo is on, it produces that noise.
