tall

Hey,
Im currently in the market looking at a mazdaspeed 3 but the only question that i have kind of holding me back from jumping at it . so here it is ...... does the mazdaspeed3 work well with men taller than 6'4. the reason i ask is im 6'6 was also looking at the FOcus ST but that didnt work. i did some searches and found some reviews but it really didnt answer my question. Please let me know your experiences and if you think this is going to be an issue. Thank you ahead of time.

Step 1 - Drive to your Mazda dealer.
Step 2 - Sit in Mazda 3 or MS3
Step 3 - Decide if it's big enough for you

supertubesocks 08-14-2012 09:16 AM

I'm 6'4" and I fit perfectly.

evil MS3 08-14-2012 09:19 AM

I'm 6'2" and not thin by any means and fit perfectly lol

bzwyatt 08-14-2012 09:26 AM

Yeah dude test drive one. I have a CX-7 and it is fine, I'm 6' 4". I drove my friend's 3 the other day, it is a 4-door and not sure if the interiors are different from the speed, but it was noticably smaller than my 7, kinda cramped for me. It was ok, but I wouldn't really like it on a road trip, probably 'cause I'm used to the 7 now and it is my family car.

Anyway, drive one and see...

Pointless 08-14-2012 09:32 AM

6'' 3'' here, no issue.

+ adjusting the seat for me is easy: alllllllllll the way to the back.

zkrick 08-14-2012 09:40 AM

I'm 6'1 and i have plenty of room. I know there's a big difference between you and I but you'll just have to give it a go.

lpugfan2004 08-14-2012 09:41 AM

6'4'' and no issues... I did test drive a regular 2012 Focus and the center console was just too big, made me feel cramped

Go sit in a regular M3 hatchback, no difference in space.

Boonestafa 08-14-2012 09:48 AM

between my audi and my MS3 i'd say the ms3 is just about as small as i can stand. i'm 6'3" but have long leggs. no probems driving its just a fatigue issue after driving in stop and go traffic for an hour or more.

CWP_MS3 08-14-2012 11:29 AM

6'2 and can slide the seat far enough back that I can't reach the steering wheel or pedals.

YoursTruly 08-14-2012 11:47 AM

I am 6' even and kind of heavy. I can have the seat-back in a normal driving position and still fit my autox helmet under the roof comfortably. I even have the seat bottom raised up a bit for visibility (apex is hard to see around the A pillar).

By comparison, I removed 1.5" of foam from my NB miata seat and still can't fit my helmet under the soft top.

Go sit in one if you have a local dealer. If you don't have a local dealer, you may be able find a used regular 3 for sale locally to "test drive."

Woot, tallest so far! I'm about 6'6 and fit comfortably. No moon roof certainly helps, never had any complaints about leg room. No one sits behind me tho haha!

if you needed to could someone sit behind you?

p057 08-14-2012 04:07 PM

i'm 5'9" and i sit comfortably everywhere.

AegisKlein 08-14-2012 04:11 PM

6'3" and can drive fine. Nailing chicks in the back seat has proven difficult though!

CW42 08-14-2012 04:13 PM

I'm 5'7" and I just tape wooden blocks to the pedals so I can reach them.

Speed3in215 08-14-2012 04:24 PM

i'm 6feet and have plenty of room ....I think you should be fine, but just like some people said just go sit in one and see if you feel comfortable in it.

smr87 08-14-2012 04:51 PM

I'm 6'3" 34" inseam. I fit fine with the seat all the way back. Only little kids and amputees can sit behind me though. Depending on how you like to drive it might be a bit cramped.

Spec 08-14-2012 08:40 PM

I'm 6'5" and the room is fine. It would be alot better if the center console was further over as my left leg has more room to relax than my right. No one may sit behind me, it's impossible. Perhaps a car seat. Maaaaaybe. But the leg room shouldn't be an issue if you haul ass, you won't even care then.

snailD 08-14-2012 08:50 PM

well it looks like you will fit, and the speed will smoke an st anyways

kashbringer 08-14-2012 09:36 PM

Ya'll are some tall motherfuckers.

CW42 08-14-2012 09:48 PM

Yup. Lots of giants in here. I'm taking my ass back to the shire.

I'm 6'2" and I always have the seat all the way back for every day driving. You must be stubby.

bstover17 08-14-2012 11:58 PM

6'3" 280lbs and I am comfortable as could be.

PUGENE 08-15-2012 04:40 AM

6'4" here and no issues

Lol, not quite. I have the arm and leg length of someone who is 5'8 but my torso is long as shit. I have to wear XL-Tall shirts. So I can slide it back, but then I can't reach the steering wheel. Lol.

My friends call me T-Rex. :D Embrace your fuckedupness.

That's just because you can't get any to come near you.

JT.Tuckerman 08-16-2012 01:06 PM

Good question to ask. I am only 6' although my legs are very long- 34 inch inseam. My son is 6' 1" with shorter legs (32 inch inseam) and very long torso. For me it was not that comfortable- when I get the seat positioned comfortably (which is almost all the way back) to where I am just right with the pedals I am too far away from the steering wheel- even with it telescoped all the way out. My remedy was to raise the front seat with spacers for more thigh support and to be able to move the seat in a little. With the mod, I am OK, still would be better if the steering wheel came out another 1/2 inch. My son with the longer torso and shorter legs fits fine. Head room is fine for both of us and I have aftermarket sunroof.

hawkinsdp 08-16-2012 02:18 PM

6'5 checking in. It's actually one of the roomier cars (a la headroom) that I've driven. Even the Civic Si was slightly too small. Now if you're fat...that might be another story with the seats.

Capricious 08-17-2012 11:51 AM

6'5" - no problems, but I don't know if I'd want to take it on a super long trip.

Ive had people sit behind me - I move my seat up and its still driveable.

Yeah I can usually manage a click or 2 for someone squeezing behind me but only for short drives. The seat has to be all the way back for any comfort at 6'5+
