The Ten Worst Cars For A New Driver

And look who made the list, haha...

The Ten Worst Cars For A New Driver

MizzyMS3 04-13-2012 09:47 AM

you mean a 16 year old should get a 911 turbo for their first car?!

Naaman 04-13-2012 09:48 AM

Perhaps the only list you'll see the MS3 followed immediately by an SLR and 911 turbo, but it isn't bad company to be keeping.

leon78 04-13-2012 09:56 AM

Truth.... :yes(1):

Volcom8190 04-13-2012 09:59 AM

torquesteer is a bitch, especially if you have little driving experience.

deadlandxtreme 04-13-2012 10:03 AM

I had the old beater muscle car. Lol
Problem was it was modified for dirt track racing. Try getting a girl into a harness wearing a prom dress.

i had an 01 v6 mustang automatic and i went to pick up this girl and her mom bitched me out for 30 minutes how no teenager needs a 400 horsepower car and my parents were awful and i was gonna get her daughter killed haha and i have a feeling this article was written by people exactly like that.

Prom dresses are designed to cum off.

fortressofcomfort 04-13-2012 10:07 AM

Actually the MS3 has very little understeer compared to most cars. It'll actually bring the tail around on lift-throttle at lower speeds. Ask me how I know.

Deldran 04-13-2012 10:13 AM

i believe everyones first car should be a beater. i personally have never got in a major wreck, but i can tell you my sons first car will be a beater, then after he has some more experiance if the speed is still around i might let him have it

671 grains of reason 04-13-2012 11:08 AM

lol at "understeer off the road". more like torque steer off the road. in 9 years when my daughter is of driving age shes getting a land yacht if she drives like her mother. lol.

silentwolf8 04-13-2012 11:13 AM

Shit my first car was an 04 ford probe SE.. Oh how i dont miss that car lol.

Im surprised we made the top 5. But how the other high end cars got on the list for a first car, let me be addopted lol.:bong:

SB.MS3 04-13-2012 11:14 AM

anyone notice that the ms3 was suggested by vdub group?
the fact that the gti crowd didnt scream about torquesteer blows my mind.

TiGraySpeed6 04-13-2012 11:15 AM

glad they included the pic-

FWIW, I started in a ratty POS 73 Toyota celica, ended up putting 3 different junk yard engines into it. Learned soooo damn much basic mechaical stuff just in an attempt to keep it running, and learned about replacement part costs.....

It was quite the grounding experience.

also if you have toothpicks for arms.

Just get JBRs Motor Mount trilogy which will negate torque steer almost completely.

This being my fifth car, I'm in the clear. I do agree a Mazdaspeed 3 isn't ideal as a first car. But, with the proper care and driving experience, this car is very predictable and safe. I still smile about the highly accurate steering response in situations where an SUV or land yacht would fail miserably. I taught my girlfriend, who doesn't yet have a license, how to drive my car and she can't enjoy driving any other car anymore.

If kids these days actually learned how to drive more responsive and predictable vehicles, rather than being at the mercy of the family minivan or SUV for learning, I think there would be some hope for future generations of drivers.

I think it depends on the teen. But when my daughter gets to driving age I'm not going to be letting her drive a new sporty car... no, she'll get a camry/accord/something slow, but still have some safety features. And unless I win the powerball, she's not getting a new car! haha.

Fiancee bought the speed for herself, first real experience with trying to drive manual...
I traded my GTI in and got her a new automatic Golf 2.5 after a few weeks, the speed is now mine.
Took a few weeks before the clutch smell went away...

Jay S. 04-13-2012 07:41 PM

Started with a hyundai excel it was a huge POS....Every kid should start with a beater for sure. My son can drive the speed with me or once he got some experience under his belt.

omgheyitskenny 04-13-2012 08:36 PM

lol my frist car was a 05 STi

I sometimes almost miss my old Geo Prism haha almost. Slow as shit and cheap as fuck. But I loved that old gay aqua green sedan. The Ranger that came second would also be an awesome first car I think for a teenager.

tapatatapa... DROID 2 Global... etc etc

PUGENE 04-15-2012 06:31 AM

I had an s10 that was rwd and sucked balls in the winter...had it for about 6 months then ditched it for a 99 jeep Cherokee...big lift and tires etc. that thing Was a tank but It lasted for 6 years (I beat the piss out of that thing)

Jason43 04-15-2012 02:20 PM

I would've added 80's/90's 5.0 Mustangs to that list. I drove one in high school and I'm surprised I'm not dead.

MammaFreed3 04-15-2012 07:22 PM

1989 F-150.

Had it custom painted, new chrome rims and bigger tires, dropped a bed liner in it, had new side view mirrors installed, replaced the stereo with something that could play tapes and put two additional speakers behind the seats in these half ass wooden boxes. The floor was entirely vinyl, I cleaned it with soap and water and literally sprayed the hose right into it to rinse. Straight 6, automatic, pounded the gas way too much and replaced absolutely everything a kid could replace on a truck. An absolute money pit but man was I the cool kid in school.

Pickups are great first vehicles for guys.
