Think I am going crazy

I had a 2011 ms3 with quite a few mods was a blast to drive the fun factor is second to none. To make a long story short I was driving like a fool on a highway and almost had a bad crash at high speed. This spooked me and I made a stupid choice out of fear to be honest. Keep in mine I am 34 married with kids so I traded the speed in cause it just ask to be driven hard. I got myself a 2011 g37 sedan s which everybody tells me how much better it is then my ms3. I hate to admit IMO its not sure it looks good and has great features but no matter how I drive it the ms3 was just a blast. So i thinking about trading in it for 2013 when it comes out or a 2012 . The question is am I going crazy? Everybody tells me the g37 is so much better but for me the fun is just not there. What would you guys do?

The g37 has intake,Stillen exhaust,upgraded sways /springs and uprev tuned. It's quick but just not as fun don't ask me why. Lol rodrigo it's funny you say that cause that's pretty much how I felt about it.

In addition to my 2012 MS3 I have quite a fast BMW 335xi that would, quite frankly, run circles around my Mazda. However when I'm leaving the house 90% of the time I'll grab the Mazda keys. It's just so fun to drive!

I do feel for you-
My first turbo was an '02 GTI, stage1+ & it was great fun, always smiled while driving, the car had the best attitude ever, like a puppy, it was just happy to go & always wanted to go faster.

Had to haul clients around tho, so traded it on a '02 A4 3.0 tiptronic quattro. Travel was easier, clients were happier, quattro was sweet. No puppy attitude, no fun, but learned to hunt in the rain, which it did reasonable well....

When I could, I started shopping for a smile again. Wanted my manual trans back, wanted my turbo back, wanted to keep AWD and get a smile to.

You can see where I landed... Better, Faster, More smiles. And the most "euro" of the japanese autos out there in my opinion. It can be grown-up when it needs to, but loves to go play

Just make sure it is not a case of "the grass is always greener....." kind of a thing, where you want what you don't have or make yourself think or remember the MS3 as being better than what it was. Also, some people just get bored with cars quickly, no matter what they are driving. Heck, I've had 15 cars so far, and with only 6,500 miles on my 2011 MS3 I'd be lying if I said I have not test driven other cars and thought about trading it in already.

Get what you really like. I would drive the G37 a little more to see if you start liking it better. If after a few more months you don't and prefer the MS3, spring for it. Just remember any car no matter how powerful can be driven gently and easy with a once in a while good, fast , safe run opening it up on a track or safe back road. This is how I drive and it keeps the car mint, tires last a lot longer, car still drives like new and I get fantastic MPG. Being a little older I feel I don't need to challenge everyone I pull up next to anymore, or that's egging me on by tailgating, etc.

True they had smaller engines back the driving dynamics should still be the same.

One is a sporty wagon one is near luxury car. One rides harsher one rides softer.

I went to dealer to talk numbers just for shits .(lol) The guy said nothing major changes for the 2013 coming could be bs sure he just wants to make a sale today. He offer a pretty damn good deal 2012 ms3 with tech package for 24000. I think thats a good offer basterd had me thinking about it. He wanted to make a deal thats for sure but if there is something i learn about this i wont rush shit ever again.

I owe about 23000ish . The guy asked my how much i own on the car i said 24000ish lol. They offered 25000 even for it. I figure they will sell the g for atleast 28000 so thats why i am sure they are ok with the ms3 for 24000. In the end they never lose but it sounds like a pretty fair deal. One thing the 2012 have same fuel pump issues as the others? Oh shit i am already asking modding questons not good. The g is pretty useless to mod unless you go turbo/sc bolts on suck for cost vs gains.

I can relate. I traded in my 2007 MS3 and decided that maybe it's time to stop acting like I'm 21 when I'm 38. I got a slow ass Nissan SUV. I thought I could get enough kicks out of riding my motorcycle and not need a fun to drive car. I was wrong.
So I traded in my 2011 Nissan for a 2012 MS3. I took about a $1500 hit but I couldn't be happier about my decision. I'll have this car for four years so $1500 is not that much devided by 48 months.

you're not crazy at all, though I question your driving...I went from a supercharged na miata to a brand spankin new toyota tacoma when i got married and had kids, then traded that boring pos truck for my ms3. Had more scary moments driving that taco than any moments in the miata or ms3, maybe it was because I was driving it like a miata...anyhoo...I dont understand how a G37 would be any less scary than a ms3, even a modded ms3...come to think of it, none of them are scary to drive...I'd suggest a bus or a cab or driving school if a ms3 scares you...sorry

Let me tell you firsthand that a car hobby is nothing, cost wise, to an oxycodone habit. Yes I admit I was addicted to that stuff for about 3 years. Lost everything. Made a $115,000/year salary vaporize. Ridiculously addictive. Epidemic. Basically it is pharmaceutical grade Heroin. It all started with a herniated L5-S1. Tramadol ok, Vicodin ohhhh Percocet ohhhh yes, single entity oxycodone fuck yeah then you run out of money and live in despair for a year. Thank God for Suboxone, the miracle pill; about 6 months on that, one relapse, 3 months again on it, and a year later I'm clean and saving money again.

My point is you live once, you are happy in life by driving a fucking car. Just do it. Some people are NEVER happy. There's MUCH worse things you could be doing with your money.

I bought an 03 Spec V in... 2003. It was the fastest car I had ever owned. But the VBoard kept comparing it to the Civic Si in races and I wanted to experience 8100 RPM redline. So I bought a 06 Si in... 2006. I had planned to mod it like I did the SpecV but the economy sucked and I lost my house and had to send the wife an 4 kids to work as migrant farm workers in Modesto. They made enough for me to keep up with the payments but I just wasn't happy. I missed a little thing called torque. My wife and kids got a seasonal bonus so I bought a 2004 Harley Dyna Low Rider and forgot about my lack of torque issues. Suddenly I drove the Si for inclimate weather only. Then I got hit by a drunk and my riding after that got a little sketchy. By 2010 my wife and kids were making more money in agriculture so I traded in the Si and got my 2010 Speed 3. Now I am happy.

The moral of the story is... If you brainwash your wife and kids early enough, they will do anything for you. Either it is that or.. Never trade in a SpecV.. or never buy a Honda.. or never get hit by a drunk driver while riding on a Harley.. Whatever, the point is.. Shit I lost my train of thought

Over my years from age 16-37 I've estimated here and there that I have wasted $250,000.00 on drugs. We all have downfalls.
