Thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2010 ms3 could use some info.

Hello everyone, I'm very close to getting a 2010 ms3. I test drove the car and loved it but have had some concerns after reading around a bit. I've read that the clutch on the 2011 is vastly improved from 2010, is this true? It's making me reconsider my decision. Also what do you all think of 24k for a base 2010 including destination taxes in nj etc?

To be honest I might not really have a choice regardless considering I can't really go over 25k.

i have heard nothing about clutch improvements...thats complete horseshit. the clutches on these cars are pretty damn strong as long as your not an idiot.

24K for a 2010 is entirely too much. even with tech package.

for that price id go for a 2011 with tech

The only problem is all of the other dealers around me have no 2010s left and only one or two 2011's that are most likely out of my price range.

What would be a good price to go for on a base 2010? They don't have any with the tech package left either...

Yeah dude.. I got an '08 in '08 for 21k. And it didn't have the equivalent to today's tech package.

I picked up a 2010 non-tech in february with 5500 miles on it for 17k. Got 2k for my trade= 15k and some change out the door.

I paid 21k for my base 2010 over a year ago.
You should be able to get it around 20k no prob.

I picked my 2010 non-tech pack up about a week ago with 41 miles on it for 20,300 plus destination & ttl if that helps any...out the door ended up being about 22,600 after destination / ttl / random fees. Kinda got fucked on some random dealer options, but it was one of the only 2010's within a 6 hour drive so I was kinda stuck with them. As for the clutch...it is the same on the 2011's.

in dec of 2009 when i was looking, there was a 2010 with tech package and the guy wanted 27k here in nm. They try to charge you the sitting fees, insur etc. Douch bags wouldnt even budge. My friend told em if they wanna sell a car, ill walk out if i dont get it for invoice haha. they still didnt even try to work with me.

I guess it just depends on where you are at and the financial status of the dealer. 20k is like woah! wtf! how the hell did you pull that?

Dude!! Its too easy... if you are so concern about the fking clutch change the damn thing when you get the car. if you can't afford it get a GEO metro and try again next year...

there are lot of factors involved like trade, which ultimately affects how much tax you pay, etc. I paid 23,900 for my base 2010 but I got them to move up on their initial trade offer by $1900. (Ended up at higher than kelly Blue book for the trade) Would it be a better deal if they jammed me on the trade but I made them sell me the MS3 for $22k? Nope, same deal.

If you are trading something in then it's really a package deal. If you feel satisfied on the trade side, then it's ok to pay them a reasonable number on the new car. You just don't want to get jammed on both ends! Use Edmunds, Kelly Blue Book, etc. Lastly, do some research on finance rates. If you can get a finance rate below 5% and a reasonable price, like something under MSRP, you're doing pretty good.

1st, discuss the price of the car. Once you are happy with that, discuss the trade value.

I think that by considering it a "package", you can easily end up losing.

Got my 2010 in November for $19K and 37 miles on the odometer. Be careful men and listen to what other are saying. You could end up paying way too much. Don't forget that dealership make also money on the interest of the loan. So you better of negotiate a lower price as possible to begin with.

Also hope you know some months are car deals months like October and November. During those months you are likely to get a better deal on new cars than now since in the fall they moving out old inventory and bringing in new models in. But by this time of the year the inventory are not moving a lot.

And with the inflation start kicking in, financing rates may be a little be up. So if you don't mind waiting to get a good deal.

Bought my brand new 09 GT out the door in 09 for 21k. Sticker on it was 26K. I got my loan from my bank, walked into the dealership, told them to give me the car for 21k otd, showed them the check, he went and talked to the manager, came back and took the check. Drove off with my new car!!!

Granted, this was during the big financial down fall and no one was buying cars and it was close to end of the year. First time I've ever been able to take advantage of the stealership!!!

My girl got her 2010 techpkg for $23,100 with everything included. Sticker price at the time was $25,997..this was august of 2010...In november of 2010 i got my 2010 sport for $21,000 so your going to the wrong places

Sounds like you did pretty good! I got mine for less than invoice. VW wanted to screw me and Mazda knew I was liking the GTI more so they went above and beyond to get me to buy their car - and I am glad they did.

Don't worry about it.
Get an upgraded mount. They are less than $100 and the easiest mod you will ever do.
