Thoughts on new way to make hp/torque Hey just woke up and only halfway into my first cup of coffee. Came across this on Facebook talking about hydrogen on demand. Video says increases burn in the cylinder from 30% to 100%. Claims it increased hp and torque. Interesting non the less. He's not selling anything and hey you never know https://www.facebook.com/thefreethou...1210727432520/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I have a bottle of snake oil to sell you |
Not interested. I'll take your flux capacitor though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Ooh, it's on facebook. It must work. |
Hey not saying it does. Just opening discussion that's all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
At least the guy in the video looks like a reputable source. My friend had a 98 Exploder for a long time. There is nothing you can do to get better mileage short of just blowing it up in a field. :) And damnit, I started down the rabbit hole reading about all this malarkey. |
"Now, however, I'm getting a 100% burn in my combustion chamber" ^ that alone gave me AIDS |

It seems like an interesting concept, but i imagine its "not quite that easy," otherwise we'd all be doing it. I'm willing to humor the idea, i imagine it has its place, just like everything, but its probably not a simple universal solution by any means. |

I'm fairly confident that gin will lead to bad emissions problems though... :fart: |

So value your input but after getting my dick kicked in at the restaurant today searched and found this. It's from 2008, and I think the selling price is a typo. Dunno though. But who would have thought that propane and diesel would create power too Ronn Motor Company unveiled the Scorpion today at the big SEMA, or Speciality Equipment Market Association, automotive trade show in Las Vegas, which may be the perfect place to debut so flashy — and innovative — a car. The company hopes the Scorpion does for hydrogen what the Tesla Roadster has done for batteries. "We want to build cool cars, just more responsibly”, company president Ronn Maxwell told Wired.com. "Our hope with the Scorpion is to implement a paradigm shift not only in how the industry looks at supercars but at cars in general." We got a sneak peak of Scorpion #001 as it was being unloaded at the Las Vegas Convention Center… The Scorpion gets its sting from a hydrogen delivery system the company calls H2GO. While cars like the Honda FCX Clarity and Chevrolet Equinox use hydrogen fuel cells to drive electric motors, the Scorpion uses electrolysis to convert water into gaseous hydrogen. The hydrogen is mixed with 91-octane gasoline to improve the fuel economy and reduce the emissions of the car’s 3.5-liter internal combustion engine. Maxwell, a 40-year auto industry vet and lifelong gearhead who holds several patents, is using the limited production — just 200 will be built — Scorpion to prove the technology works and legitimize the H2GO system the company will begin selling for $1,000 early next year. The way he sees it, if H2GO works on the Scorpion, it’ll work on your Civic. Maxwell didn’t offer much in the way of specifics, saying the publicly traded company is still dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s on the venture. But he says H2GO is good for a 15 percent to 33 percent improvement in mileage, a noticeable increase in power and a significant reduction in overall emissions. The company is pursuing EPA certification of the Scorpion so people can get a better idea of what the system is capable of. Maxwell insists the 40-mpg figure is the real deal. The trucking industry has been using hydrogen boosting for years. But the Scorpion is significant because it uses what the company calls real-time hydrogen delivery as part of an original factory design. And unlike BMW’s Hydrogen 7, Scorpion does not keep any 30-gallon tanks full of liquid hydrogen lying around at ?253 °C (?423.4 °F). “Our system does not require any pressurized hydrogen storage. It’s completely safe and uses water from your garden hose to create hydrogen on demand. We are simply increasing the efficiency of what’s already there”, says company COO Damon Kuhn. “Even better, the infrastructure to support this technology is here right now, not 10 years from now.” Kuhn is referring to the biggest challenges to hydrogen’s use in vehicles — the need for a fueling infrastructure, a venture that by any measure will take many years and many millions of dollars. And yes I have read the articles about it not making better gas milage due to it takes more energy to make then to burn. But I have also read that it decreases the combustion temperature. I also want to point out that I know nothing about the physics that happen when we all get a hard on from what happens in those four cylinders while we smoke a civic or a stock Porsche boxer in my case. And for the rest of you gear heads rapping everything else... Just trying to see if anyone that can give a logical explanation to why it wouldn't work rather than posting stupid (but fucking hilarious) no's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Flame fronts from the combustion of H2 are considerably faster than that of gasoline. |
From my brief google searching on the subject, the long and short of it seems to be better fuel atomization. If that is in fact the case, then I can see how it would benefit the engine, improve MPGs, etc. Things like direct injection, modern fuel injectors (vs those used 25 years ago), advancements in ECU control of the engine's functions all have improved HP, MPG, etc through better fuel atomization. |

But I'll play nice. When I was looking at this yesterday, I had read somewhere that the H2 derived from electrolysis required a decent amount of power, more than the alternator(s) could put out without putting more parasitic loss on the drivetrain than was being created by the H2. That doesn't sound right to me, but what do I know? It also may have been referencing a H2 only fueled vehicle. |

I prefer the stupid option as well, just not when I'm the op lol. Yeah I read that too. Fuck I guess I have another reason to get yelled at by the wife for ignoring her. Hell she's yelling at me now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Umm, I kinda want to like you post monkey bones for the gif alone, but your attempt at an insult... well I just don't get it. Care to explain? Please use correct grammar when you do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Would this be more effective/require a separate battery running the thing? and then have to recharge it whenever you get home like an electric car? |
