Time to Mod is approaching - Need some advice

Hello everyone,

I don't post too much on here since most of the year I am deployed and have little time to get online. However, I have made a sizable amount of money while deployed and I want to put some of it into my car when I get back home.... Here is what I am looking at installing. My 2011 MS3 only has 2,400 miles on it (been away from home too long as you can tell seeing I purchased the care in June of 2011).

1. RMM
2. Corksport Stage II Intake with Turbo Inlet
3. Catback Exhaust - Corksport
4. Shifter Bushings
5. Short throw shifter
6. Lowering Springs
7. Not sure what else yet...haha gotta beat the wife and kids to the bank first

Now here is where I have a question or two. I'm not a heavy foot, however I do enjoy spirited driving, especially through England countryside (I'm in the United Kingdom). I don't have a lot of reasonable mechanics and the exchange rate is ridiculous. With that said, At what point on the intake and exhaust do I need to get a tune? I think I read in a post before that if I stuck with an intake and a catback that I would not need to tune, however I considered buying the turbo inlet or a Corksport racepipe.

With the above power mods, would I need a tune to see best performance, or can the car ECU handle those changes? Or if I get the COBB AP would those MAPs provide me with a clean running vehicle. I'm not looking to race every joker on the street, but I did buy a MS3 to have a bit of fun while still being able to have a practical vehicle.

Any help is appreciated....please don't flame me too much....

Jeff

Thanks for your service and you might want to add fuel pump internals to that impressive list of mods. An AP is a must have if you want to tune your car other than that list looks good.

Thanks for all you do! You may wanna research a bit more before you start throwing money at a potential time bomb. Many will tell you to purchase a COBB AP & HPFP internals (autotech, kmd or Cpe replacement pump)...I would second those statements. As suttle as the mods may be you do want a way to monitor and tune if necessary. Check out the database available for more info. Hope that helps & good luck.

simply because i'm in a good mood:

You need to put an AP and Fuel pump internals at the top of your list. You can search and find out why i'm telling you this.

AP OTS maps will have you running just fine until you are in a position to get an E-Tune from one of the many tuners we have here.

Pretty sure they don't make a short throw shifter for the PU, but you can put a Short Shift Plate on (same aspect)

Catback Exhaust has NO power gain, just sound. the most restrictive part is the downpipe, so if your looking for power that is where to go.

the spoon feeding is done. Search is your best friend. start with the stickies and the knowledge base

No problem and thanks for the immediate responses.. I'll read up more on the fuel pump. Like I said not trying to kill the car or make it a "ticking time bomb" haha just wanted to make it a bit more fun while I have the means.

Have a great one and thanks for the quick feedback

Are you in the Air Force?? And, if so what base. My son just got there last week

I would hold off on the exhuast for now, and use that money towards the AP and FP internals. I know there is some debate on whether or not an exhaust will really add much HP. I would get a race pipe too along with the AP and internals, you will deff see som nice gains from that. Good luck!

Thanks for your service, Christmas wouldn't exist otherwise - fucking comical.
