torque steering help

this is my first time owing a FWD car with this much torque and the torque steer is crazy. I drove RWD car most of my life so I'm new to this torque steering and needed some advice on how to control it. When is the best time to shift between gears to avoid or minimize torque steer? Thanks in advance :)

forcedinduktion 03-10-2013 03:59 PM

JBR motor mount!

smoogs12 03-10-2013 04:01 PM

Grow a pair and hold on to the wheel like a real man.

boostdmazda3 03-10-2013 04:02 PM

balls are weak and fragile. A pussy on the other hand, takes a lot of beating lol

cbspd3flip 03-10-2013 04:12 PM

What torque steer? :hitwithrock:

86AmishMs3 03-10-2013 04:19 PM

Cant tell if troll or not. But what are you going to do further down your mod path? I have 400wtq and honestly it's fine, you just hold on.

bstover17 03-10-2013 04:21 PM

Hold on to the steering wheel.

helmetface 03-10-2013 04:24 PM

@Naga; are you completely stock? You have no idea what torque steer is then.

If you ever decide to track the car and then build it up, you're going to realize how much that tq really helps coming out of corners. You'll learn how to modulate your boost and not bog your car down completely and you'll really soar right through turns. FWD is great for this.

Enki 03-10-2013 04:39 PM

Naga please.

It's not torque steer, it's traction loss. Get better tires and your car will go straight.

Chron 03-10-2013 04:44 PM

Give it a week or two and you won't even notice it's there!

it has an cold air intake and I just order cobb acessport. Torque steering isn't that big of a deal for me and it's the first time I experience this

xtasy 03-10-2013 05:07 PM

OP can handle a RWD car, but can't handle a FWD? Fail.

Hoyoman 03-10-2013 05:08 PM

Use your paws

First time experience English too???

littleloogy 03-10-2013 05:50 PM

I bought my speed and first front wheel drive car this passed September. I can't say that the torque steer bothered me very much. Just grab the wheel tight and keep her straight.

Glomm 03-10-2013 06:03 PM

I still really fail to see the problem here. Just bought a used '12 and I can honestly say I don't experience any noticeable torque steer. Granted, living in the city I haven't taken it through the twisties yet but I have been zooming in a straight line quite a bit. Perhaps I'm just used to holding on to the wheel tight with one hand.

Other than the RMM, is there really anything the previous owner could have done to tamp down the torque steer? I double checked the other day and found it still had the stock mounts, so I'm genuinely curious why everyone complains about torque steer..

Also, JBR 80 duro on order. Can't wait!! :yup:

Cheapspeed 03-10-2013 06:51 PM

I remember taking the test drive, I pulled out onto the street, eased into 2nd gear, then floored it, wheel tore right out of my hand.

I was sold.

I had a very similar experience :)

Brings me to the Top Gear Review... "But it isn't respectable. It's mildly terrifying. And that actually makes it quite appealing."

pedal2metal 03-10-2013 07:31 PM

I don't even notice it at all. If you really want to limit it buy a Prius like above mentioned. You bought the wrong car!

lobitoPU 03-10-2013 08:03 PM

Whats torque steer?

CWP_MS3 03-11-2013 05:51 AM

This is the reason I only let other speed owners drive my car...

Tadweezy 03-11-2013 01:46 PM

The MazdaSpeed3 is my first FWD Turbo car and honestly no torque steer at all. I previously drove a camaro which i love, but i love my MS3 more! Hold on to the wheel all i can say.

Jra2011speed3 03-11-2013 02:33 PM

Get a rear motor mount, ditch the stock tires, and drive your car more. You'll get used to it and learn to like it. Also, growing a pair and holding on helps.

lug 03-11-2013 03:11 PM

Naga please....

Torque Steer: verb; your hi-powered FWD car's way of telling you it wants to be in the next lane.; The Nut's method for steering his Pu (attached photo shows mod for counter-acting when a alternative movement is called for).

I have to admit. There is a good amount of creativity put towards denying that:

1. Torque-steer exists in these cars.
2. It isn't an undesirable trait that manufacturers (OEM and aftermarket) don't try to eliminate.

Don't get me wrong. It isn't so bad that it REALLY bothers me, but I willing to consider anything that helps reduce torque steer (i.e. RMM).

Only time I ever have had a lot of torque steer to where it kind of got me at all is during surface type transitions or if one side hits a little gravel and spins.

boostdmazda3 03-11-2013 04:44 PM

i like the torque steer it has the oh shit the car is powerful feeling.

Dark_Signal 03-15-2013 09:20 AM

Dude it ain't that bad at all. Now I admit if you're speeding down some uneven roads and you're only holding gingerly on to the wheel with one hand and you hit a few bumps than it might scare you. All you have to do is hold on tight with BOTH hands when going WOT and not be a pussy. You'll be fine OP, after a little while you won't even notice it.

Naga 03-15-2013 11:46 AM

The more I drive the less I notice it and then again it helps so much on corners

manila 03-15-2013 11:55 AM

In b4 OP has wrinkly man tits and the strength of a woman.

Dash08 03-15-2013 12:21 PM

Enough with the torque steer bullshit.

Fucking pansies cry about torque steer.

Real men put some muscle into it and show the car who runs shit.

Cars are a lot like dogs in that sense. If you don't display your dominance over them and lead the pack, they'll fucking shit all over you.

Kyle Undefined 03-15-2013 12:22 PM

You must be new here.

angura 03-15-2013 02:09 PM

Torque steer just keeps your Honda owning friends from driving your car.
