So I got a call from state farm last monday the 10th with their offer of 25.3k. I immediately accepted because I knew that was way more than what I was supposed to get, or at least thats what I thought. I have no idea how it happened like this but I made out with a grand on a car that I bought brand new and put over 5k miles on. So no complaining here, and everyone was ok after the accident so im kind of glad it happened at this point besides my rates rising a little bit.

So I got the check last thursday, went to my bank and deposited it, and went right to john kennedy mazda located in conshohocken, PA, where I purchased my first speed and got another 2012. This time I went with a velocity red mica instead of the black. Once again I couldnt be happier with the car, and the color has grown on me even more than the black did, so im all around super pumped.

Thanks for all the input guys, appreciate it.

Just saw your question, but yes I got charged with careless driving. Not sure when I have to go to court for it, but ill keep everyone updated.
Congrats man. Glad no one got hurt and you didn't lose out. VRM is the way to go Don't listen to these fools, that old "red cars get pulled over more" is BS, just don't drive like an idiot and youll be fine!

I don't see why people always feel like Insurance companies are trying to screw them. This is a perfect example of the exact opposite, and it happens alot

They want you in another nice, new car so that you keep sending full coverage premium checks their way, it's business.

I just had a car accident in july 2012. I was hit by a drunk driver so be prepared to fight insurance company the adjuster tried to snowball me. Look at your state laws on insurance. Ohio states they can use book value or price comparison. The adjuster said she couldnt use book value and i got her on that.

While this is kinda of true if going through one's own insurance and your at fault, when not at fault it is absolutely not the case and the insurance will cover whatever modifications are done. Believe me they werent happy buying my bushwacker fender flares and lift kit parts on my trucK.

Glad you made out OP

My insurance has a section on it that covers $1500 worth of "custom" parts. When my mom totaled her Grand Prix we told the insurance she had a bunch of random parts and they gave her 1500 more than the third offer they gave us (happened two weeks ago, she picked up a new Mazda6)

You would be correct, however - bright colors are more noticable and cops tend to watch those colored cars more, also due to them being exotics, or sport type vehicles (bec they speed lol)

I'm impressed by the offer they gave you as well but I can tell you that insurance adjusters are not trained to give you a low ball offer, they use standardized market reports (I should know, I am an adjuster) that use local comparable vehicles in your area at the time of the loss. Anything that can make a claim quick and painless. I specialize in auto thefts/fires and do fraud investigations but do a lot of total loss settlements as well (if they're telling the truth lol).
