Default TurbineTech Front Motor Mount Review

http://www.turbinetech.ca/component/...iew/26?lang=en

@superskaterxes; was nice enough to find this second hand for me. He too has one in his MS6. He swore by it, so I had to give it a try. After all, he has all that power and just only a FMM and a RMM. Who the hell am I to second guess him? lol

We had to get hardware for it, which TurbineTech was nice enough to give us the sizing of the hardware needed, and the installation instructions, even though we weren't purchasing anything from them. Speedy reply BTW.

Install time took about 30 minutes or so. Looked pretty straight forward but Anthony was the one doing all the work (since I forgot my clothes and was still in my work clothes). Everything went without a hitch and bolted right up.

Review:
Simply put, the car feels fucking solid. I have great confidence in its durability. In addition to that; absolutely zero increased vibrations or noise. If anything, I think it may have settled down just a tiny bit of vibes that I get from my RMM. Combined with the CP-e Stage 2 mount, I honestly think you cannot get a more comfortable setup, that is as strong to boot. I've been in many cars with all sorts of different setups and I'm very impressed with what I've ended up with. My goal was never really about comfort, but it was a positive byproduct. I'm very satisfied with how the car feels and drives so far. I definitely noticed an immediate change, and will continue to push the car over the next week to really get a feel for all it has to offer.

I've heard that this mount cannot be used with FMIC setups, but I haven't seen anything concrete on that. Granted, I didn't search thoroughly, as I don't have an FMIC so zero fucks given at the moment. However, Anthony runs a FMIC on his car, but as similar as the MS6 is, its still a different car. Nonetheless, I will eventually be taking a shot at a custom FMIC setup, and we'll see if it indeed inhibits a traditional setup, and/or if there is a way around it. If you're running a stock or aftermarket TMIC, I highly recommend adding this mount.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any. Both of us were short on time today and I didn't think about it. I can get an above shot from the top of the bay tomorrow, but it may be a while before I pull it in the shop and the belly pan off. I just did an oil change Tuesday. lol

I try to get it up on a lift soon, but probably wouldn't be til the middle of next week at the earliest.

Was more for a rough idea of positioning to address why FMIC people might have fitment issues.

I've always liked the idea/look of these. I've been wanting to try one for quite a while but alas, I'm still broke.

I took one off a gen1 while doing an fmic install because the tubes were in the way of both sides of the piping. Just an fyi, I don't have one.

Still just as happy. It withstands all daily abuse with no issue. And even with temps getting into the 30s, the ride remains comfortable. I haven't moved forward with trying to make an FMIC work, so that's still TBD. But if you're sticking with a TMIC, I highly recommend it.

My dumb ass didn't event think to record the engine movement when it was on the dyno.

@trancehead; @VulgarKyle; and @MonstaSpeed6; have all been in my car recently and can probably share their opinion on it as well. Especially the first 2, since they're coming from fully mounted cars.

I can definitely agree that the ride is much more comfortable than mine, however, I don't even notice my trilogy anymore because I'm just used to it. That doesn't mean it didn't feel solid. He got into it a few times and I didn't feel any engine rocking or jerking. Just my .02

Turbine Tech FMM hmmm.

I'm very pleased with the JBR trilogy - Here's my vote for making it the JBR quartet.

At a lower price point?

This is sooo close to a traction bar option for us...

@jbarone if you're really looking at making something like this, take a look at attaching something to the LCA's to keep them from moving back n forth. If you've ever seen FWD traction bars, you'll know how close the setups are to a FMM like this.

Just food for thought.
JBR likes this.

In for JBR design!!! Realgib3 you said it best for another company to make one of these. You could even have just the mount setup and then have a traction bar add on as a option!!!

I would never pay $330 or whatever the cost is for the TT FMM.
I'm really hoping JBR's FMM comes out soon and at a reasonable price. I'd jump on it without hesitation if it was at or lower than the $200 mark.

Great write up @CWP_MS3;! Maybe I'll put my stock PMM back in and see how it feels. If it's still as solid/comfortable as you say I may just sell my CS PMM. Although I do like how pretty it is under the hood...

Depends on what you're looking for really. I mean, JBR fully mounted cars are obviously going to feel far more solid than anything else, but again, Superskater runs this and a RMM only on his car which is far more beastly than 95% of the cars on this site.

What's your RMM?

If you're running an FMIC, it won't work.

What's your RMM?

If you're running an FMIC, it won't work.
I'm looking for what you described. Solid but still comfortable. No wheel hop, but no vibes. And I have the CPe Stage 2 like you, and I swear by it.
When I build in May after deployment I'm going to make custom 3' hot/cold pipes, and my compressor will face straight down like NJSpeed's setup so my piping isn't going to go near the traditional routes.

If comfort is your goal, then I think you will be very happy. It won't add any additional vibes over what your CP-e S2 already gives you. Mine was already broken in, because it was used, but I'm telling you straight up, when I turned the key over, I felt no difference in vibes. I was expecting at least some change, but it was honestly next to nothing.

Now that its cold out, I get metallic engine noise, but its very insignificant. It not like what trans mounts do, to any measurable degree.

You can't run the hot pipe there with this mount unfortunately. That's actually why I may be switching up my front mount setup.

@Realgib3; I can't run the hot pipe where? down from the compressor rather than up? I don't understand what you're saying.

Yeah down instead of over the VC, you won't be able to run it there with this mount. The piping runs exactly where this mount runs to the lower control arm

Well fuck me sideways. My hope was to route the hot pipe to the driver side of the IC, not the passenger side. Being 5000 miles away from my car it's kind of hard to just go under the car and check it out. Lol

I'll be getting rid of my JBR 88 TMM and get this mount during street units black Friday's sale. I think @CWP_MS3; got it right. All you really need is this mount and a rear mount.

I just bought a used one of these... I'm excited to see if it lives up to the hype.
