Default Two things I absolutely hate about my 2nd Gen.

URGHHH it drives me nuts that

1: Mazda decided to REMOVE the glovebox lock in the 2nd Gen. Why would they REMOVE - - if anything, with newer models, you shouldn't remove safety/security features. Makes me a little paranoid that if someone were to break into my car, they could open the box up and just take whatever out.

2: The center console with the armrest -- In the 1st gen, I loved that you could lift the handle and underneath it laid a tray compartment - and if you wanted to get to whatever was underneath it, you could close the lid and re-open it (but with both levers depressed). In the 2nd Gen, you have to remove the tray part entirely just to reach the cigarette lighter/AUX jack. Veryyyyyyy annoying as much as I have to charge my phone in the car..

Sorry, rant over. I love my 2nd Gen MS3 far more than I ever did my 1st Gen, but these are two things that bug the living fuck out of me.

Nothing in my glove box. Plus if I broke into your ride, I could break into your box

But I did like that tray in my genjuan

I leave my charger plugged in. Ran a long wire and done. No probs

I never leave anything of real value in my glovey

If you absolutely have to leave something valuable in your car, Hide It. Pull up some carpet, stash it under a seat. Shit, sit in the engine bay.

Otherwise, should have bought another genwin.

Glove box lock doesn't bother me too much due to me being used to driving Two sweater convertible s as they teach y you never to leave anything there. My Elise doesn't even have one, so I am thankful the ms3 does. Lock would help when I have to leave the keys with someone I don't trust

What I do hate about arm rest is, I use it in the "forward" position, and at that position in order to open it you have to dig down to flip it open. Lifting mechanism should slide too like it does in our cooper s.

Our pathfinder had the dual center like gen won and often it was a pain as I would happen to open it twice most times

All that said, gen pu > gen won all day everyday and twice on Sundays

Well I agree with what you guys are saying about the glovebox - and I usually put things under my seat - but the console armrest part is far more annoying.

I totally agree with what you're saying 90210!!! And you can put the parking brake up without it hitting the armrest too. That wasn't really thought out well on Mazda's part.

And I would never dream of having another genwon over a pu

1) Your glovebox is not a safe

2) Leave your charger plugged in

The only thing that I find completely retarded about this car (believe this is an issue with the tech package more than anything) is that the moron that designed the smart key sensor completely forgot that you may want to leave your car running with you not in it and have the doors locked. For example: making a pit stop in a gas station. Or warming your car up.

Aside from taking the physical hard key out and putting it in the door, having your car on seems to completely disable the smart key.

/rant

PS...if I'm wrong on this, please, someone enlighten me.

I Tapped that

1. The gear ratios that are poorly matched to the power output. 1st gear is worthless.
2. The snot that accumulates on the ass end.

So use the cigarette lighter in the front console instead? Much easier to each, and then your phone sits perfectly in that opening.

THIS does bother me, however. I love the armrest in the "front" position, but then I forget to slide it back when I park, and the e-brake hits it. The leather is starting to scuff on the armrest.

I believe (I could be wrong), that if you physically press the door lock button on your driver's door before closing it, it will lock and allow you to leave the car as long as you have the smart key in your hand. (Along similar lines, hitting the Lock button on the key itself should work, too.)

This might be my single biggest complaint about the car, along with the completely stupid lack of an engine temperature gauge.

Not being able to lock the doors with the key out of the ignition is a safety feature. In some places it is illegal to have your car running with the doors locked and no one inside, cops say its because if the car starts moving the can hop in and hit the brakes. this is just from what I have heard.

I've never had the problem with the parking brake/armrest. Maybe it's a matter of adjustment?

And I agree about the temp gauge. I fail to understand how any manufacturer can build a "performance car", and not include a temp gauge. This and the "status bar" boost gauge is about as silly as the one on the 27 year old Buick.

I've seen shitty vehicles with more guages than our cars. An ex had a 98 dodge ram that had all the guages that this car needs

Mazda has been doing fake guages forever in the miatas. The complete lack.of temp guage is moronic. Our 2012 mazda 5 doesn't have it either.

Seems like if car is overheating when.dummy light comes on, will b too late.

Didn't realize the boost guage is a status bar.

Man love those buicks!

That would be nice...unfortunately that's not the case. If you press the lock button in the car it will lock. Then as soon as you open your door it unlocks them. And if you try to press it while the door is open, it will lock then immediately unlock.

Pressing the lock button on the fob does nothing whilst the car is running.

Pressing the little lock button on the door handle while the car is running just emits 6 obnoxious double "beeps" and does not lock the doors.

It's a retarded design.

x2. I can fully engage my parking brake without hitting the armrest.

And I'm with you guys on the temp gauge. Having the little blue thermostat light is one thing, but I'd really like to know how hot the car is. Being a new owner and not being familiar with the smells that come off the engine when it's warmed up make it a little unnerving when you can smell something you think is strange but have no temp gauge to see how hot it's running.

I'll have to try this some time, because I accidentally locked myself out of my own car while it was running the first week I owned it. Clearly, there is some way to do it.

Look into the Torque app for Android, or buy an Ultra-Gauge. I use it to monitor boost, engine temp, fuel pressure, and fuel trims (no KR, sadly).

Keep in mind, the dummy light has yellow to warn you you're overheating and then RED to tell you to stop driving immediately. There is some leeway involved, so Mazda did, at least, think that through.

Nice! I'll have to get that and a phone mount for the car! Do you know if the Bluetooth will work with the app and normal car Bluetooth functions (call functions, pandora, etc.) simultaneously?

And that's good to know about the thermo icon.

#1 the cheap ass felt roof liner - even my friends Pontiac Grand Prix has real cloth up there.

#2 the cold day clunk you get from turning the wheel and backing up after the car has been sitting for a while (which nobody seems to have a difinitive cause/solution)

Like some of the others, I don't have this issue.

Pull up your center console and adjust the tension on the brake. Shouldn't have to pull it that far for it to be effective.

Yes, it will work simultaneously. The PIDs/sec rate will go down a bit when other devices are connected, but it will be more then adequate for monitoring temperature. You might want something wired if you need a fast enough refresh to watch FP/KR, though.

Agreed...however, the sensors KNOW when the key is not IN the car. If you get in the running car without the key on you, it will tell you that the "advanced key is not found"...so if it knows when the key is not in the car, it should allow me to lock the car with the key not in it.

I leave mine in all the time. I've gone a week without starting the car and had no issues. I'm sure it is technically draining the battery, but not an appreciable amount over a relatively short period of time.

IMPORTANT: It depends on the charger. Good chargers (like mine) won't stay on when the car turns off. As soon as they lose power from the cigarette lighter, they should stop charging. The easiest way to test this is to plug your phone in to charge, turn the car completely off (not on Aux power or anything - COMPLETELY off) and see if your phone is still charging. If it's not, then you're good to leave it plugged in 24/7.

My biggest problem is no temperature gauge and shitty boost gauge
but i'll agree with your 2 points as well

Pressing the lock button on the fob does nothing whilst the car is running.

Pressing the little lock button on the door handle while the car is running just emits 6 obnoxious double "beeps" and does not lock the doors.

It's a retarded design.

I Tapped that

Nor does it unlock. Sometimes wife stays in the car when I need to pop out quickly to store. Cannot take the fob with me since it beeps then if I wanna open the tailgate I need to go back in car and get fob to press the trunk button to open.
