Just installed my catless M2 eBay DP 2 weekends ago, and I've had to get a new in stream O2 bung welded in (gen 2) and also the DP was about 3/4" too short. I ended up just manhandling them together, but there was a lot of resistence. I had the stock CBE extended so it would take the strain off the DP. All is perfect now, and with the Stock CBE, I think it sounds just right. Aggressive under medium/WOT, but not drone-y cruising. I know not aftermarkert CBE, but more data for you.

That's the 2nd complaint I've heard of the ebay DP's being too short. Kind of interesting because some people have had zero issues with their fitment or welds. I guess when they're made cheapy in china 0 fucks given to every one of them being perfect.
@RLam; Why did you have to get another bung welded in?

With the downstream O2 being installed in the extended bung, it gave me P2096, 0137, and 0139. AFRs were at ~14 at idle. Gen 2 apparently cant use the extended bung. After the new bung, everything is great and no CELs after 500 miles

Oh, and the car runs like a raped ape now.

Mine was pretty much identical, short and had to have a standard o2 welded in. Otherwise its been fine.

Well, these are a few issues, but there are others running these without issue. I'm hoping I am one of the lucky ones.

I had 2 seperate trips to get the pipe extended and bung welded. It was $102 total with each being ~$50

Even with the extra $100 i'm still happy. If I would have bought the UR DP, It would have been about the same with the adapter for the stock CBE

Shit, its still a LOT cheaper than a UR DP. Don't forget you have to buy the TP separate. Only one comparable would be the ATP, which is about 290 IIRC.

I made mine work without any extension, and I believe the bung weld job was 30-40 bucks. So i was still under 200 bucks all in.

I just got a Speed Daddy from a friend. He has a Pu too, and has already had a new, closer, shorter bung welded in. Some cracks on the welds have developed, but I got a guys that's going to TIG weld over everything again for free. Cost me $50 total ($50 for the pipe, free welding)

I have the UR V1 ceramic and I just got the p2096 code for the second time yesterday. My AFRs are anywhere between 14.2-14.8 when idling.

@MS3inDC;

Alright, so this was taken with a cell phone so it doesn't sound loud, but this exhaust really isn't quite. The ultimate racing catback is a tamed beast - best way I can put it.

As far as the Ebay DP is concerned:

Fitment was just fine, outside of the usual pain in the ass installing a downpipe is. They give you bolts instead of studs, I just reused the stock hardware, minus 1 nut that got a little messed up when pulling it off. It was reuseable, I opted for a new nut. It could use to be like a 1/2inch or so longer, because it pulls my CBE forward, but it wasn't like it came up short and I'm running open DP because I couldn't make it work. Could they make it longer for perfect fitment? Yes. Does the length I got have a dramatic impact? No.

No CEL's yet, but that may change after a couple cycles, so far it has seen about 3. I'll keep that up to date if I get any soon. I expect to.

Driving, its really not that bad. Its aggressive, and its definitely louder, but IMO its not obnoxious. Its definitely a blast to pass people who are going slow, knowing you're going to rattle their entire car as you go by.

Drone... Not really bad at all. The only time it really gets loud, deep and kind of obnoxious is when you're engine braking. Higher the RPM the louder and more annoying it is. It may not bother some, I'm kind of picky. With that being said, its not enough to make me want to pull the exhaust off.

Overall, I'm really happy with the Ebay DP and the sound of my exhaust now. And I'm happy that I could use the ebay DP and save myself some money.

Yeah, the wife isn't overly fond of it, but you can dumb it down a bit if you shift early. I'm not going to lie, its pretty fucking loud. I kind of retract my statement earlier, now that I'm driving it more. Lol. I'm not upset with my decision at all, but I did consider 1 resonator. We'll see, its to early to tell if it will bug me.

Your bumper is a dirty whore just like you @CWP_MS3; but seriously it sounds good. I was just afraid to go with an eBay DP because I don't want to weld a new bung in and all that shit so I am just going to spend a little extra and get a corksport that way i KNOW it will fit my corksport TP fine as well as not have an extended bung.

I just picked up a UR CBE off of a friend and I'm running Catless TurboXS DP/TP.

He was running a stock DP/TP and it was too loud for him so he put in a Magnaflow resonator. So I'm hoping it isn't too loud on my car. We shall see soon...

Well now its been through 7 key cycles and still hasn't thrown a code. Outside of the fact the inner part of the flange looked sloppy, the rest of the welds were sexy beads. I was skeptical as fuck, but so far so good.

Like I said, it could have used to be a little longer. Given my CBE is a 3inch it was close to rubbing a heat shield because it was pulled closer to the front. If it was a stock CBE, that wouldn't be an issue. The UR mid pipe is fucking huge compared to stock.

No way. UR with stock cats is still sexy as fuck, and not ungodly loud at all. It was perfect for me, and I had a metric fuck ton of mental debate over whether or not I wanted to add a DP to it, for fear it would make it too loud.

Just took 2 logs with no changes to tune at all. It has me picking up 12-14hp and 26-27tq over my last log. But I have had better logs. IIRC, compared to my absolute best logs, I've probably picked up 6hp and roughly 20tq. Granted those were taken early march or late february and the ambient temp was probably 15 degrees colder.

What about the smoking turbo phenomenon? This and the CEL is what's scaring me off of the catless dp. But it seems like there are no cel's and will this pass our MD emissions?

It won't pass the visual test but maybe they won't look?

IIRC they fixed that smoking turbo issue for the most part with the genpu.

im running the speeddaddy egay pipe and UR cbe and its loud as fuck cold starting it. while cruising i barely notice it with the music on but others say its loud as hell. down shifting and engine braking shake the cabin though

edit: just read that you have it installed. what method did you use to connect the dp to the cbe? did you re-use the stock donut flange?

I had a raised idle from the get go when we started tuning, so yeah... But from my understanding, that was a 1st gen issue.

I didn't use the gasket. We cranked down on it to the CBE so the bump would seal it. Didn't seem to leak at all. Meh. LOL.

Corksport sells these: Mazda Exhaust Donut by CORKSPORT I don't know if that would work or not.

i actually ordered one of the corksport donuts but the dp end is too thick. i thought about just tughtening it down without a gasket. i ended up just crushing the dp into the gasket and tourqing it down as much as i could

sorry to revive this thread, but i just ordered this DP and have a few questions..

How bad is the fuel smell if it smells at all?
from 1 to ten how bad was the install? is this something that can be done in stands or it has to be on a lift?
did anybody took it to the shop? if so how much did they charge you
Also if i want to add a high flow cat is this something that i could do later on without having to uninstall the DP or i have to do it now before installing it?
Did anybody heat wrapped the DP or used any type of coating on it?

The only time you're going to smell anything is when you're at idle for extended periods of time, with your windows down. So, maybe some stop lights. If you let your car idle to warm up in the winter time, its going to smell like shit when you get in it if you leave it on for any measurable amount of time. Roll the windows down, and the smell is out in no time though.

TL;DR... The smell isn't bad enough to matter, and will reduce the amount of people willing to ride your ass.

LMAO, I was set on getting a catted CPE (Peace of mind, is a brand new car and dont want to screw it up so soon), but for 140 you just cant go wrong, my main question is that if after i install it will i be able to add a high flow cat without uninstalling it if i change my mind later?

140 (DP) +92.00 (magnaflow cat) + 35 welders fee = 265 for a catted DP, Also this aluminum runs real hot, is it recommended to heat wrap it or you just installed like that?

Thanks, I appreciate the info

No fucking clue; I'm not in the business of making custom exhausts. Take it to a shop and ask them. I wouldn't trust their opinion over the phone.

I didn't wrap or have my shit sprayed. Just make sure you get some zip ties and keep the O2 harness away from the DP.

And yes, a DP can be done on jackstands, but it will probably take longer. And as far as time/difficulty - that depends on you and your tools.

I don't really smell anything from mine. Install is super easy and very doable on jack-stands. I did mine in about 2 hours with some screwing around with other things in between.

Do it without the beer so theres less chance of breaking something. Save the beer for the celebration of a job well done after you've had a chance to do a test drive since its your DD.

You can add in a high flow cat down the road but its easier to do it when its out of the vehicle as the car needs to be fairly close to the turbine housing in order to keep enough heat in the system to work effectively.

I wouldn't recommend a shop unless you don't know what you're doing, and are not a part of Nator. Then again, I prefer to do my own work.

And I'm not sending anyone to Nator unless you're an active chapter member. Don't be the guy who gets shit installed and then disappears.. I'll slaughter you.

Yep, Im not NATOR yet cause im fairly new, and could`nt go to the only meeting they had in that time, My Nator guys have a lot of knowledge and they have helped me with a lot of info already, Im kinda handy with tools and probably have everything i need to do it myself.

If they help me i surely wont dissapear but I work 6 to 4 and also own a cleaning business so I`m pretty much working 24/7, if NATOR helps me out then i will feel bad every time i have to tell them i cant go because of work, having said that i have my best interest of being a part of NATOR and help when and with I can. So lets see when we meet up what they think about this.
