Ultimate Racing Resonator Q's I just ordered the UR Catless Dp along with the UR catback exhaust. I selected the resonated midpipe option. Is that going to replace the 2nd cat or is it just a resonator in the stock location? If it does not replace the 2nd cat does anyone recommend having a resonator there as well? I hate drone. |
if you hate drone, then get as many resonators as you want. (I have no idea where the resonator is on the pipe since I don't have UR, sorry) |
The ur resonator is in the stock location of where it would normally be. Does not replace the 2nd cat. |
nvm. didn't read. |
Yes its on the center pipe behind the test pipe. As said if it still drones too much a resonated test pipe is available too. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2 |
Thats the answer I was looking for. I still have the stock test pipe. I have to decide if i want the catless tp or resonated one. Plus the car just turned 1,200 miles...hahaha |
OP, Why would you place a cat in the system beyond the O2 sensors?:ouch: It's just going to screw with your readings? If anything you should have got the catted DP the catless or resonated TP and the resonated catback exhaust if you are really worried about drone. |
Catless ftw, i would go for the resonated TP as well I know high flow aftermarket cats are better than oem ones, but I have dealt with many that became clogged and caused crazy issues, one resulting in an engine fire. This wasn't a problem in cars that I have owned thankfully, but still don't want to risk it Fuck cats Felines are useless as well |
Im not fond of running cat's in any of my cars that I modify. Just one more thing to go wrong down the road. |
Drone comes from the catback not the resonators I just installed a UR catless, resonator-less test pipe on my car and, other than being 2% louder, it didn't change the sound of the car whatsoever. I was able to find another 8hp by the way (well with stupid VD; I want to get this back on the original dynapack where I did my baselines; soon, soon). I found the extra 8hp and almost 20lbs/ft more by making changes in ATR that I bet 90% of you would never had guessed would have done so, so I'll leave that as a little mystery for the noobs. Also, I am going to purchase soon the upper part of the UR downpipe. Catless and resonantorless of course. I like the divorced designed, easier to install, and UR uses this really neat almost graphite like material for their "donuts;" So far it has performed flawlessly. Now I bet that the removed of the 1st cat (on the upper DP) will increase the volume of the car but, again, drone (like a hum at a certain rpm) has everything and only to do with the catback pieces. My expectation after installing the $285 upper DP (OXYmoron ???) is just an increase in volume but more on the order of 10%. So I agree w everyone; fuck cats and fuck resonators. Tune the sound of the car to what you want by altering the cat-back portion of the exhaust. Why is it that exhaust work cannot be performed without both a) rust in at least one eye and b) a bloody knuckle? WD-40 is your friend by the way. |
Minimal drone would be catted DP, resonated TP, resonated MP... I have the first 2 on a UR TBE, and it drones. With a 2nd resonator would probably be better, but I agree with @fortressofcomfort - I ran CBE for a long time and adding DP + TP changed little, although the resonated TP has definitely helped the drone to become bearable to me. If you want quiet, just don't get a CB. Bitches in the back seat still think the car is too loud, but I can't hear em...:fuckyou: |
Catless all the way. Why fuck around if you already are doing a catless dp op? You're going to end up with a 3" dp to a 2 1/2" stock tp, back to a 3" exhaust. Buy a 3" tp, slap that bitch on, get a tune, and then thank me later. You're gonna get drone regardless, might as well go big or leave that shit alone if you dont like noise. edit- lol I just noticed you dont haz ap. No tune for you. |
