Default Unpredictable turbo

First I'd like to start off and say, I've only had my new MS3 (400 miles) for about 3 weeks and am new to the site, but I have been searching the forums for my issue and trying to learn as much as I can. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the answer to my question which is:

With the MS3 should I be feeling different degrees of the turbo randomly despite similar starting conditions? To clarify, there are times in any gear where I'll try and have a little fun and the car will slingshot me down the road whereas others it barely feels like I have a turbo at all. I don't floor/push it until the engine is 3-3.5k rpm each time.

It just seems like I never know what I'm going to get, the fun hatchback rocket or the memories of my old protege 5 in terms of acceleration.

You need a butt-dyno calibration.

Seriously; get a AP and tune the car.
The stock tune is shit and you will be able to log and understand what is happening with the engine.

acceleration in 6th gear at 3500rpm will not imitate acceleration in 2nd gear at 3500rpm. This much is common sense.

3rd gear 3000rpm will feel much different from boosting in 6th.

1 and 2 are great to feel like the car is pulling hard and 3rd is when it gets real fun. 5th is ok. 6th is blow up.

Hold down your traction control button for ~10s after you've started the car. It will disable or heavily reduce the interference of the angle sensor (SWAS) if you're applying power with the wheel off center for 12 and 13 models.

These are safety mechanisms in place to keep the speed3 insurable and marketable because far too many dipshits would wrap them around trees.

Thanks for the responses. I understand the pull between 1/2/3 will be different from 6 as would anybody that's ever driven a manual. My question was more of when pushing my car hard from let's say 2nd or 3rd, I get different responses on different days/times when I go out to drive.

For example, today I was going to turn into an empty access road and wanted to just accelerate hard for the heck of it. So in 2nd, I push it hard from 3k rpm and there was no pull at all it seemed, unlike other times on the same road when I pushed it and it felt like it pulled much harder. Since this was my first turbo car, I was just wondering if this was normal.

One problem with the stock tune is that it is load based. So once you hit a certain load, your car will no longer raise boost. One reason you need to get an ap to unleash the true beast. Trust me, with an intake and an ap, this car opens up like no other.

There is nothing wrong with your car, trust me.

I don't know how retarded you are, but you need to take in consideration your boost air temperatures. If you've been driving for awhile, especially stop and go traffic, your intercooler is heat soaked. This results in higher temperature air entering the cylinders and will reduce the efficiency of your engine resulting in decrease power and/or detonation (even worse decrease power with a side of oh shit my engine could blow).

Welcome to forced induction

Obligatory fuck you newb...

The stock TMIC is prone to heat soak. How have the temps been in your area?

Be careful when you boost in higher gears, just make sure you are above 3k RPMs
