Want to see what your valves look like after 96000 miles without an OCC? These are a few shots (not very good sorry) of what i spent a day cleaning. People, GET AN OCC and EGR DELETE KIT!!!!

96000 miles
EGR block off after 30k miles
sea foamed about 5 times over the past couple years.
No OCC, shut up I'm ordering one.

96K in 2 years?

Is all of that highway miles? Might be the reason for the carbon buildup.... DingoDave jvella22

So, you've verified that Sea Foam doesn't do anything for these engines.

But, while an OCC and EGR delete would have helped a bit, I think you still would have needed to clean those valves after 96k. It's not like they are a magic bullet or anything.

First "mods" on these cars should be OCC and EGR delete. Those are some dirty valves.

Did you notice any performance difference after cleaning?

Yep.. I'm only at 44k and I bet my valves are gonna be looking something like that. No OCC or EGR delete yet.. but those will be installed the same day I clean these valves. Also car just hasn't been running smoothly for good while. Hoping a good cleaning will help solve that.

Im at 95k and about to do this. I guess this is what I get to look forward to...did you use media blasting or the gun kit to clean it out?

Yes 96k miles in two years. Tons of highway driving.

OCC and EGR delete a magic bullet? no you're right they're probably not but im sure it would cut cleaning time and frequency in half.

Noticed a bigger difference in performance than i expected. As soon as i fired it up the idle was super smoother.

Cyl 1 and 4 were the worst

I used the carb cleaner and gun brushes. Already had a bunch of gun cleaning brushes so i figured i would try that first. Only part you really had to work at was the edge of the valve with a coat hanger and the backside of the valve. Took my time and got them as clean as any of the other pics of cleaned valves i've seen. I think the walnut shell blast might be easier but the cleaner and brush is cheaper. I got more time and patience than money.

Not mine, but I literally just came from a valve cleaning..we attempted to do 5 cars but were rail roaded by some fail.

Anyhow, one gentlemen had been spray meth for just under a week, 80k miles on the odo and his runners and lifters were like 900 times cleaner than min and others with less miles.

Also, after spraying for this week, his carbon build-up was much looser and was able to be cleaned much easier and more effectively.

Needless to say, I'm throwing a DO kit on my CC....

I have a full DO kit I'm fixing to put up for sale.

Can't run meth in scca racing so I don't feel like setting up for meth then retuning everytime I go race.

But yes meth is the way to go which is why I picked up the kit from a former member.

SCCA racing, period? Or a specific class?

I've not heard that rule yet.

Yeah. Just read over the rules again to make sure. Basic solo rule is you have to run anything you can get at a gas station, any octane. That's including E85. That's it. BUT you can run water injection.

Trust me I would be running that shit from that start. Have tapped boost tubes with 3 nozzles, big tank, controller and even two jugs of meth mix sitting in my house laughing at me thru the window while I'm scrubbing my valves.

Side note, where did you tap 3 times?

Secondly, so I can run water injection huh, what says that I couldn't sneak in some meth on that 'Water Injection' ?

I know their safety check can be intensive..but I don't think they'd make me rip off my bumper and sniff my tank lol

After I wrote that I realized it sounded like I had three tapped nozzles. I really meant I have three separate nozzles available to put in my one tapped tube.

Yeah you could put meth and probably get away with it easy.I had mine all hooked up and they never even asked. But it kinda goes against the whole grassroots old school mentality. And if it ever came out you'd be shunned. Yes shunned ...FOR. EV. VER.
