Vandalized My car was vandalized by some drunken teenagers last night via fire extinguisher. Not sure what I did exactly to incur their wrath but mine was the only car in the lot that got the treatment. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A...606_020006.jpg Two more weeks until we move, thank God. I've washed it twice so far but there is still some residue. Cops were called but there is no direct evidence of who did it even though we know who is responsible. |

I know it was one of the kids partying in a particular unit in our building. It probably wasn't the owner but it was certainly one of his guests. The police know who was involved and we'll be setting up security cameras in case they try anything again. I'm sure it's just a case of drunken stupid teeangery. I'm 35 and a father of two I'm not going to go to jail for beating up a 19 year old. The wipers are half up because it was pouring when I got home last night and I turned the car off while they were still on. |
I and am sure the rest of the forum are curious as to why they chose your car...Did you call the police on their party or something(Neighbors)? |
Give us their names. Murica' |

I came out to tell the youngins to "get off my damn lawn" and noticed that my car had been sprayed at which point I called the police. If they had done it after I called the police that would have at least made some sense. |
Time to regulate... |
Personally I'd have to put my hands on someone for something like this. |

I gave him a ring.. On a real note, that's pretty shitty. Hope the assholes get what they deserve |
Hopefully you wax you're car regularly and it washes off easily. People have no respect anymore. Who said violence doesn't solve anything. I'm pretty it's worked since we were cave men. |
try a pressure washer. By my part of town all the car wash places have them. |

I'd fuck a 19 y/o's day up! Trust that. |
You know, I never did shit like that or defaced another car in my life. People that do that shit need to be beaten big time. There is absolutely no reason (bragging rights) in doing that. I would be talking to the person who had the party until you found out exactly who did it then I would have pursued legal charges against him, 19 is considered an adult. |
Luckily I had waxed it 2 weeks ago so I'm sure I'll be able to get everything off with some more effort. I'll clay bar it if I have to. We submitted a police report and had the police out there to check it out. Our only legal option would be to take him to small claims court, but there is no permanent damage so there wouldn't really be anything to get. He got a citation for the party and the way the laws are written if he gets another he can be arrested. We are also speaking to the manager of the adjacent restaurant as they have security cameras. If that shows anything you can be sure that we will be taking it to the police to press charges. |
I feel bad for you man, I know how hard it can be to regulate something like this people like that are what make me paranoid with my car |
It's this kind of shit that ultimately led to me getting a place with a garage. |
It's why after 1yr in a fucking apartment I said Fuck this. I want a garage to keep my cars safe. I would make his life miserable. |
I know you already washed but I would also take a vacuum to any powder I could still see, I would probably also remove the cowl to get any powder that may have gotten under it. I would then use compressed air to blow it out of all the nooks and crannies followed by another wash and compressed air again. |
The good thing is that it was a standard dry chemical extinguisher and that it wont (well, shouldn't) do any damage to your paint. The residue will definitely take a few washings to come off completely, which you are already discovering. But, in the end, fire extinguishers are relatively harmless. |
new cabin filters..... eh second thought they're probably fine. gotdamn kids |
I'd be so butt-hurt about this. Thank god it was you OP and not me in fratty-natty mode. |
You sure you didn't do it yourself to get a free paintjob :)jk |
Instead of pressing charges if the cameras show that he did do it. Why not, settle out of court? Maybe have him wear sign on a corner that states something, or he needs to wash ur car in a bikini hahaha |
Also, ask the housing authority to check the fire extinguisher at his place. Pretty sure every apt. Should have one |

Is this really that big of a deal? Does fire extinguisher powder eat paint or something? Couldn't you just go to the pay-n-spray, blow that shit off, and be done with it? |

It's Man Law to not do this kinda shit.... clay that shit out.... It'll work. |
There's som else going on.....you say that, all this is because of..."lawn steping";.... I'm gonna go with this:You were in the car when this shit started....and it's not about the ....lawn!!!!! |

I would change all the Fire Extinguishers to CO2 in the building. |

I just woke up to this, That sucks dude. I've been apartment living for years now and every day i convince myself buying a house is a must. Some dude has a wrapped STI where I live and they peeled off part of the door wrap. U should stick a NRA decal to your car lol. |
I feel for you man. At least its not permanant like if they would have keyed the shit out of it. Its tough living in apts. been there done that. My .2 cents -choose your battles wisely- lawn stepping in an apt complex is a lot different than on your actual property. They had your car pegged from by the host of the party unless they saw you getting in/out of it. |
Use a clay bar for anything remaining on the paint and glass. It should pull it right off. |
Dude I'm a 32 year old father as well and I say a little non-damaging revenge of your own is in order. My suggestions: 1. Go to a local pet store and buy a bag of crickets and release them under his front door. You think getting one noisy cricket out of the house is annoying...try 100. 2. Find his car and unscrew the valves from two of his wheels' valve stems. If neighbor isn't the one who did it, who cares? He'll think twice the next time he decides to throw a party and invite his asshole friend(s). P.S I also like the idea of finding the used Fire extinguisher if possible. Dust for prints? |
