Vibrant vs Synapse Diverter Valves

Long story short, I canceled a Synapse order cuz it didn't show up. So I emailed the seller about it and they stated it was on back order (thanks for letting me know bitch). I told them to cancel it for crappy service and ordered from another seller and got the Synapse quick. Then a few days later, as to my surprise, I got another Diverter, it was a Vibrant one and not a Synapse that I originally ordered. So I was like you bastard, I told you to cancel the order.
Anywho, thought I'd do a comparison since I have both lol. Enjoy. :boobies:

Vibrant vs Synapse Diverter Valves

Absolutely nothing, except price. :chairshot:
Vibrant had a label over the Synapse label with a different part number lol.
I peeled the label off, Vibrant is on the left.

Haven't installed it yet.:spankme:

jdmage_mx5 03-09-2014 07:17 AM

I'm going to order one from edge Monday morning. @Lex; seems to like the valve quite a bit so it has to be good. Good luck on your install when you get to it.

The DV model is prone to cracking @ the flange (Atvfreek and I had the same valve crack in the same place and a hell of a time getting a hold of Synapse for a response), and Synapse is not a very responsive company or easy to deal with...

That being said, their SB model is, imo, the best valve available.

The valve on the left of this picture is basically the SB isn't it. For some reason I was thinking it was the Synapse version not the vibrant on their site. By the way @rfinkle; thank you for responding to my PM.

You guys have a thread on this? The searches comes up with nothing about it. I wanna have some history (evidence) when mine cracks to flame Synapse lol.

SB is the left one.

SB is the left one.

We don't, however, I do still have the emails and RMA # they sent me. I'm pretty sure ATVfreek would have kept his as well.

cletusb 03-09-2014 02:48 PM

I had the same issue, they sent me out a new housing to swap over myself

bioevolve 03-09-2014 03:22 PM

Wonder if you can tell the difference between the faulty one and the revised one? If any.

Knowing Synapse, they probably feel it is our fault. LOL.

Helpful hint.. If they don't answer your e-mails, politely (or not so politely) ask them if they received your e-mail on their facebook page.

You'll get a call that day.

Mauro_Penguin 03-10-2014 07:39 AM

So the Synapse DV valve has a tendency to crack? Damn it!!! :banghead::angryfire:

This is the BPV I was going to get soon. @rfinkle2; When you finally got in contact with synapse, did they mention anything as far as what may have attributed to the cracked housing? IE: bad casting or botched up clamps?

bioevolve 03-10-2014 08:04 AM

Oh, forgot to ask. Which flange end broke? Push or pull setup?
Looks like the slotted housing ends need some reinforcing.:grouphug:

I was talking to atvfreek about the metal, and we both came to the scientific conclusion the cast metal they use is shitty. LOL. I don't know what it is exactly, but it is some sort of pot metal.

They will never admit to doing any wrong. I ordered one of their wastegates, and they must not have put the clamps in the box, and when I contacted them about it, they said something like (without exaggerating)... that is impossible, we weigh every box before it goes out to be sure the contents are correct.

So, @ that point, I was fed up and asked for an RMA. The next day I got an RMA with nothing else included in the e-mail but the RMA # itself.

I was running it in pull mode.

I may not like the company's customer service, but the SB is my favorite BOV. It is as fast as they say, and requires no messing around with springs, shims or gadgets.

FWIW, the HKS ssqv can be recirculated and a pull valve as well.

I second this. I've been running the Synchronic BOV for over a year now with no issues. Setup was dead easy and it just worked.

jdmage_mx5 03-11-2014 12:48 PM

I just ordered the SB model with flange and everything. It should be in at the end of the week. I'll post up some photos when it comes in, for those who search this topic in the future.

Is anyone running this valve vta? Wondering how this compares to my hks.

Doesn't have the unique HKS sound, and does not flutter dump.

I'm running it vta (but am running a blow through maf).

06yellowroush 03-13-2014 07:33 AM

Oh ok thanks finkle. Is it any faster then the hks though? Is it worth to sell my hks for one?

The whole point of the Synapse valve is that it's the fastest one on the market. They have some YouTube videos comparing it to other valves. On all the videos I watched the Synapse operated so quick letting all the air out before the other valves could even react.

06yellowroush 03-13-2014 07:44 AM

Yeah I've seen some of the videos. Do you think its worth selling the hks to get one? And we are talking about the little diverter valve correct? Not the oversized bov they sell.

The SB is the larger of the 2 valves, not prone to cracking as mentioned above. I don't think that the HKS is a bad valve.

06yellowroush 03-13-2014 08:05 AM

Oh ok, ill prob just stick with the hks until I do my fmic upgrade.

Lex 03-13-2014 10:23 PM

Haven't had our DV crack. I haven't found anything about this with a quick search and a lot of Evo guys run them. It would be a shame if they fail because they have some very fast valves.

cletusb 03-14-2014 02:29 AM

Mine didn't crack during use but when I was installing it, the material around the flange was very weak

Mauro_Penguin 06-11-2014 09:53 AM

@bioevolve;

It's been a few months now, what are your impressions on this bpv?

SparkySparks 06-11-2014 10:49 AM

I've been running a DV for over a year now and it has been on and off the car many times while doing other things to the car. So far I have not had any issues with it and I know a couple of other locals are also running the DV and have not had any issues with them.

Sorry, haven't done anything to the car since. Moving then, now moved into the new place. Gonna start hopefully next week with the mods and post new threads as they get done. :moon:

Thanks for the info!

IMASA 06-13-2014 12:00 PM

I just installed my Synapse DV yesterday. It seems to make occasional squeeking sounds. What do you guys use to lubricate the DV?

I used to have a Forge V1 and I would just use Mobil 1 grease. I'm not sure this will work on the DV. On the Synapse site, they sell a bottle of "proprietary lubrication" for $10. Is there a better alternative, preferrably something I can go buy locally?

mrQQ 11-24-2014 10:40 AM

What port setup do you use? A, B or A+B?
