warranty So I am new here. I bought a 2011 speed a couple weeks back. I have been reading site about mods. I m gonna start doing a few things to the car and was worried a out voiding my warranty. So I stopped in my dealers parts department to check if there mod friendly. Heres what service manager told me about aftermarket upgrades. He said intake and cat back ok along with suspension and turbo timer upgrades. He also said they don't mind a little stage running with so because you can go back to stock settings. Then when I asked about upgraded internals on fuel system he said no. He said any internal none bolt on will void it. I told him almost all companies request a fuel system upgrade. He said the car comes with a performance pump already. So is he giving me a green light to zoom boom it and they will fix it. What would you guys do if your dealer told you this. Thanks and I will donate. |
Just upgrade your fuel internals and prepare to void your warranty after reading here for a couple days. |
How would they know you upgraded your internals? I'd say unless you told them they wouldn't know. Tapa' what? |
If a dealer told me any of that, I would know that I was dealing with an extremely incompetent dealer/service department. |
Here is the procedure at MSF 1) upgrade the parts you want, and; 2) say fuck your warranty, and/or; 3)Save your stock parts to stock out in case something does happen But, by talking and ultimately telling your plans to the service manager, you ruined option 3 for yourself at that dealership. |
I didn't tell him what I was gonna do he just started throwing things out like turbo timer. He also suggested that to help pro long the life of the engine. I really only planned on buying a cai and ap and fp. |

The last person you want to be getting your info from when it comes to modding your car is the dealer. |

P.S. my car was supposed to be stock for a year. I've owned it 8 months... |
Simple, I don't talk to my dealer. And especially not a dealer who tells me I can upgrade my turbo timers. Welcome to 1993. |
The most important part of dealing with the dealer is having records of oil changes and making sure you unmarry the COBB Accessport before going in for a claim. As far as mods go, its up to the dealer. |
