Default Weird dark spots

I just bought a 2012 Velocity Red Speed this past weekend. Got it out the door for $20,000. I noticed when i got home that there were black spots on the hatch. I wiped them off easily. The next day I noticed they were there again. I'm thinking it's spray from the exhaust when it's cold and condensation comes out with some carbon. Has anyone else noticed this? The talilpipes look like there is alot of carbon in them. This is my first turbo car. Thanks for the help.

Carbon coming out of exhaust pipes is pretty normal for any car with a 4 cycle otto engine since the burn in not 100% complete. Moreso a car that is direct injected and turbo.

Your car has herpes. It will go away for a little while with some cream, but they will eventually come back lol

I had this problem as well. The car has the shits. A little Pepto Bismal in the gas tank should smooth this right out.

The problem should significantly decrease after you install a SRI and flash to stage 1 on an accessport. I have no issues with mine anymore after going to an off the shelf stage 1 map.

That would be Kris Speed3 CWP, ha. That was one of the first threads I read when I first got my car and found this site, and I was laughing my ass off the whole way through. Wasn't even mad about the black spots all over my car anymore either after seeing him lose his sh*t for several pages

Exactly, $20k is pushing somewhere around invoice price for the car isn't it? I wouldn't even expect a leftover new 2011 to go out the door at $20k.

It was actually $20,500 before freight and fees. Total with everything was $21,500. Didn/t mean to cause an uproar. Still one helluva a deal.

It's not that it just runs rich, it's because it's direct injected. You can run as lean of a tune as you want, and that soot will still be there every day. Look at every DI car that you see driving down the road from Porsche to VW/Audi to Cobalt SS, and all of them will have black tailpipes from soot. Running leaner is only going to reduce fuel at WOT anyway, most people run 14.7 for cruising at all times...except me.

But seriously, it doesn't bother me that bad, it's no worse than the brake dust is, and it's really leveled out as my engine's worn in, takes a week or two to reach the level that it used to get in a couple days brand new.
