Default Well I got my new wheels today...

Got my new wheels today from xxxxxx.com (they made it right no need to put them on blast) and 3 out of the 4 have some large markings on the inner lips. They said it was normal, but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Not sure I believe that is normal. But, it doesn't look like you will be able to see it after tires are inflated.

It's actual paint missing...this picture should help. The tires are inflated.

This. When they mount the tires they will use lube if its a good shop, but old lube on the rollers will leave marks like that on the rim outer edge. It will scratch off but will not just rub off. Light solvent or warm soap and water and elbow grease

Still try to rub off with solvent. Still looks like rubber residue and old tire lube

I would, and buy some properly sized tires while you're at it! Those are way too narrow

It's missing paint just scrubbed it and nothing. Took a key to it to see if it was like caked on shit and the key made an identical scratch. Not going herrafrush but I do want nice fitment.

On an 8.5" wheel I'd go:

245/35/19 for standard fitment
235/35/19 for a mild stretch
225/35/19 if you want an aggressive stretch

Anything less than that is just friggin retarded IMHO.

That is 225/35 I didn't go wider because I don't want a full on fender pull when I go lower

If using a paint pen for about 30 sec is a project then I guess so. If the tires weren't stretched it wouldn't be noticeable, I figured the same thing would happen next time I get new tires anyways. Plus 19's for the price of 18's isn't bad...

For anyone who comes across this thread and is having a set of wheels mounted, look for a company that uses Hunter "touchless" machines.

I had a local Mr.Tire rebalance my BMW 19's, the balance ended up perfect but the wheels were left with tiny chips around the center cap. The idiot pimple-faced teenager that had working on my car used a flat-head to remove the caps.

I raised hell-and they sent an appraiser from their insurance company the very next week and essentially payed for the wheels in full. In other words they paid full price for what the wheels would cost to refinish them, which ended up being the same price of the wheels. So...I essentially got them for free! Not too shabby.

As long as the shop is offering a FULL refund or FULL replacement that's fine. If the "large chunk" back was the only option they offered I'd be pissed.

I wouldn't worry about it honestly. The first time you hit a bump and blow the stupid stretched sidewalls off the rims they'll look a hell of a lot worse.

I don't understand why some people are getting so angry over this. Yea it's annoying but its only noticeable if you are looking straight down on the rim the same time as the scratch is facing up. They gave me enough money back where I felt I was happy...certainly better than buying used and at the same price. I can run a 235 next time and it wouldn't even be visible. Returning them would have just made me wait a few more weeks and spend a couple hundred more (before they even gave me some money back) because they were the cheapest place to order from by far.

OP asks if scratches are normal. Consensus is "no" and return them. Then OP doesnt take advice and gets "chunk of change" and a paint pen.

Just wondering how much is a "chunk of change" or price to make OP "happy". Why not say actual $$. Anyone? Lol.

Mine were professionally designed by engineers in Japan who have matched the look perfectly with the car, with tires that fit. Oh, and they work for Mazda.

How is that even relevant? if he found scratches after a tire change he'd be demanding money or service from the shop that did it.

and what wheels did YOU get? I like the design...would like to see them on the car. you just need proper sized tires
