Why don't you order from one of the other vendors? You can probably get the majority of those items for less money by ordering through something like RPM or Edge...

That's exactly what I did, thanks for the suggestion. Called up Edge talked to Mike and he helped me out. Ended up changing better quality parts:
CDP - CP-E 3" SS
TMIC - (back order 2-3, sure I can wait) - CP-E
HPFP - Autotech
CBE - CP-E Nexus
Ended up ordering some Koni Orange STR.T Struts

Total $2,067.65 with discount. 300HP here we go!

"Higher quality" is all in the eye of the beholder. I'm happy to find parts that do what they're supposed to do for a fuckload less money. For a point of reference, I got all the hard parts on your list except for the struts & CBE for less than $850 by perusing the for sale section. Something I would strongly recommend doing in the future.

Indeed. ATP's downpipe is also much cheaper than CPE and the M2 is $100 less than the ATP.

And good luck hitting 300whp with those mods on 91.

Thinking the same thing

Without a tune parts don't do too much, you'll need e to get to 300whp on the ko4

Ditch the tmic in place of a full intake system with tip. Most of the etunes run around $250-$300. E85 is purchased at a lot of gas stations. It is cheaper than 93 but gives slightly less fuel economy.

You don't need E to hit 300whp. I hit 302 with an aftermarket top mount and tune.

I needed a downpipe, removed 1 cat, 3.5" intake, hpfp, tmic, and 50/50 ethanol tune to break 300whp.

Not all cars are the same.
@kevdog; was making as much power on 93 as I was on e85.

Did a full coolant flush and switched over to Peak LL. about 5 flushes later it was clear enough that I was satisfied and filled her up.

You guys are not kidding when you guys say that the coolant shoots out everywhere on this thing. This is the first car I've owned with a "drain plug" where I haven't had to undo a rad hose to do a coolant flush and Jesus Fuck, It goes everywhere.

Glad I had kitty litter on hand.

Gear oil next week, and sometime when I feel like it, Cabin filter in my Gen 1.

For the tuning, did you do that with the AP by yourself or you had to get someone else to do it?
Also what is the complete set up, anything else besides the TMIC? Like DP, TIP, SRI, or HPFP?

I would love a FMIC but they are out of my budget for the time being...I just dropped 2k on others items. With my goal of mid 300hp I don't need a FMIC.

Goal of mid 300 whp is going to take full bolt ons and a good e85 tune for certain. A reliable goal of over 300 whp alone will probably take e85 with your mods.

I would love a FMIC but they are out of my budget for the time being...I just dropped 2k on others items. With my goal of mid 300hp I don't need a FMIC.

There is no "complete setup." These cars vary significantly from vehicle-to-vehicle and engine-to-engine.

In order to have a shot at 300whp, on pump gas, you'll need at least:
- A healthy motor with great compression
- Upgraded TMIC
- Downpipe
- Larger-than-stock Intake/TIP (3" - 3.5")
- HPFP internals
- A GOOD tune
- 40º F or lower at sea level

...and if you're running 91, you'll probably need to be tuned for an E85 mixture to get a reliable 300whp rather than an "occasional" 300whp.

If you want mid-300whp levels, you'll absolutely have to be running E85 and/or auxiliary fueling (Meth/Eth), or you'll need a bigger turbo.

I uninstalled the hypertech tuner and installed the Cobb AP. Throttle response is not as responsive anymore. I will need to install the right maps too.

Got my new Nitto Invos in the stock size installed today, surprisingly louder than the Continential DW's I switched from. Waiting to take it on the backroads for a real test

Thanks for the details. I will likely go with the big turbo to get to 350HP+, since it's my DD I know I'll have a hard time with the E85.

At the end of the day, its a number. I had my heart set on 300whp. Im at 275/323 and I absolutely love the way the car drives. With Meth and a full downpipe, maybe i would hit 300 who knows. Although.... I have recently been tossing around the idea of a GTX2867 for next year..

The GTX2867r seems like a real solid unit. I like the fact that in theory it should spool like the BNR S3 but has a lot more top-end power, and the price of the ATP kit is tempting, but I have had my eye on this lately:

ATP Turbo External Wastegate Bolt On Turbo Kit Mazdaspeed 3 MS3

I think that kit with the GTX3067R seems like the way to go. I like the newer design that incorporates the EWG on the hotside. Should be much less prone to creep. Expensive, though. Time to start saving.

Pretty nice weekend. Added some ignition timing to my tune yesterday and today.

Screwing around with boost literally did like nothing at all compared to this. Went from like 5.5° @ 5500 on Cobb's tune to 14.5° @ 5500 (that seems to be about the limits of my fuel, 15.0° gives me consistent KR of about 0.4 in the top end). Still getting shit for airflow because of the hairdryer K04 combined with still having both catalytic converters, but at least the top end actually feels more powerful than the bottom end now. Vdyno on the same stretch of road is reading like 40 horsepower higher than on Cobb's timing map. I think that number is complete crap (impossible), so I'll grab a 4th gear log on the highway Thursday.

I'm still very new to this self-tuning thing but I'm definitely glad I took a crack at it. I can feel the difference. The snow tires are pretty much getting completely owned in second gear now. Now I probably need to start thinking about moving to a load-based tune for safety and consistency.

I agree, to me it's not really about the number either it's just a guesstimate on what It would take to get me excited behind the wheel. I punch it now and it's 'egh', I would like to get some adrenaline.
Let's see what happens with the bolt on mods and a tune. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for CP-E TMIC it's on back order.

I agree that dyno numbers are whatever. Sure it is nice to have that 300+ whp print out but I would rather have that 12.9 or less timeslip at the track personally.

Have one hand on the wheel and gun it in 2nd, that will give you plenty amount of Adrenaline.
CPE TMIC is great value for the money, but it will still heat soak pretty bad. I hear that tmic with meth is perfect, but I don't have a meth kit yet. The only reason I didn't go fmic is because I want a tr8 size core, but don't want to swap out the crash bar. If I had a first gen I would be running a front mount no doubt. Cx racing is cheaper than the CPE intercooler, and you would just have to swap the shitty core out eventually.

I just went to gas station and realized...it's 93 octane. That means I've put the wrong map on my car! I wonder what difference that will make from 91 with SIR to a 93 with SIR.
Anyway thanks QuikTrip gas stations, they are everywhere here in Georgia. 91 octane...is that common in other states? I just figured I had the lower octane, I guess I was being pessimistic.

I haven't seen any E85 anywhere here, maybe BP stations have it?

Flashing from 91 to 93 you probably wont notice anything. I didn't. Just make sure you log kr and shit to be certain you have good gas.

Today I installed new itv22 plugs from the oem stuff. Had no issues with the oem plugs but 40k on them it was time anyway.

In the morning, i pull my car out of the garage and go to work (where my car sits in a garage) and it sits for 8 hours.

Air temps to/from work are great.

If I decide after work i want to go somewhere, all the heat rises from the motor up into the intercooler and makes the bitch fucking hot. (110-120 degrees) in the winter it was awesome but with summer quickly approaching i feel its going to be an issue. it will cool off a little bit (maybe high 80s-90s but not much)

When I bought my Corolla from a Subaru/Chevy dealership, it had power steering fluid instead of ATF and dexcool instead of the correct coolant. Correcting the latter problem was not fun.

Tapatalk has stopped responding...

Dexcool is the work of the devil. What ended up happening? Just eat up a bunch of your gaskets?

Yeah I don't trust it. I was getting some reasonably notchy shifting even after the trans had ample time to warm up so I figured I had better change it as well. ended up going with Redline 5w30 with a WIX filter and the Ford trans fluid. havent gotten to drive it around yet so I cant say it has improved things.

Red looks so nice especially when it's clean. Not to mention black on red rims. I kinda wish my ms3 was red now.
