Well it was time for a wash so, a wash she did get. Needs a tire rotation and my endlinks are kind of bleh in the rear.

Don't let the clean fool you. her hood has some pits I need to touch up that are down to the metal of the hood.

Installed Cobb AP V3 today and flashed a Stage 1 map for CS Intake and TIP. Did a datalog for the first time and fuel pressure looks fine. Car feels stronger in 2nd and 3rd gear. I already have the Stratified Flash tune, am just waiting for autotech internals to get installed on the weekend and then I'm flashing that map onto the car.

Installed the heated seat switches from a 2012 Mazda3. I'll be ordering the heated seat pads and installing them shortly.

If you order everything from Mazda, it'll probably be close to $600.

Luckily I was able to find the seat switches and the outlet for $50 on ebay. If you order it from Mazda, the whole box will cost about $160 I believe.
The heated seat pads themselves (you need 4 in total) are around $420 from Mazda, but I found ones that will work on ebay for $70.

All said and done, $120 for heated seats is good in my book!

All you need now is a heated toilet seat and you'll have it made.

I thought the heated seats were standard on any of the 2010-2013s w/ tech? Was it an additional option in 2012?

They were for the lucky Canadians like yourself. Unfortunately, the option did not exist for those in the US.

Awhh dude that fucking sucks! it's like they think we also drive in igloos as well as live in them.

There's at least 10-15 states that get way colder than Vancouver, BC, seams a little twisted. I would guess that would be about a $750-1kish dealer option, and I have to say, even when warm out. After a LONG day at work, when my lower back is sore, they are a godsend!

I know our lights our slightly different as well, but I haven't done any serious research on the differences.

Probably why we pay a little more (besides exchange/etc) for our MS3s new.

Yeah, they are totally worth it! Every car I've had has had Ghent before and you're right, even after a long day, it is nice to have them (Not to mention cold, long days).

I think you guys have DRLs in your headlights up there as well. Plus, you have the big Washer reservoir with the sensor (that is on my to-do mod list).

I'm still up in the air about going aftermarket for the pads or getting the pads from Mazda.

How are yours? Is the pad very noticeable under the seat fabric?

I have never sat in a MS3 without them, the pearl white and blue ones I test drove both had tech packages.

I don't even notice them to be 100% honest, even when I turn them on. I suppose if I felt for them with the tips of my fingers I might be able to feel them in there but sitting on them @5'11" 170 lbs I don't notice them at all.

Compared to other heated seats I'm a big fan of the adjustability on the MS3, most ~$30k cars have one setting, on and off, or really fucking hot them shut off, rinse, repeat. Or some are very weak and just heat yer ass.

I wouldn't want to recommend buying the heating pads/liners from Mazda, but if you could buy them from a salvage yard online from an original MS3 I would go that route, unfortunately probably not a lot around.

If they adjust the same, and depending on how the ebay heaters compare to the Mazda liners dimension wise, they might be perfect, I'm not sure. Have you seen any DIY threads on it? Either way I hope it works out for you, it is an option I have loved very dearly since my brother's 1998 Audi A4.

I didn't know about the bigger washer tank, I guess I might have to use mine for meth, I've heard 50/50 still cleans yer windows not bad..

Got fuel pump internals installed and flashed the Stratified Flash Tune. Didn't get on it as much yet, but so far the throttle mapping seems better on this Stratified Flash Tune vs the OTS map.

Yeah, I really enjoy the fact that there are five settings on the Mazda. My other cars have had two and three settings.

The ebay heaters I found are pretty nice quality from a reputable company and come with a five year warranty. Also, they ship with switches that are five way adjustable so hopefully they will play nicely with the Mazda five way switches.

There is a DIY thread on here that is for adding heated seats and leather seat covers which I'll likely be using to guide the seat disassembly process as well. I may also write a how-to once I get everything installed.

James Barone EGR Delete, CFM vented check valve oil cap (fail), and a Greddy oil catch can I scored for 20 bucks. Had some paint and clear coat laying around so I cleaned her up and made her blend right in with my engine bay. ☺

Looking nice!

I found a good way to keep the strut tower ground wire coming out of the ERBB just right is to mount the ground strap in the thread hole closest to the fender, with the tab in the same location.

I found my strut ground strap had a bit too much slack, and I would have to shove it down into the supplied slot, by changing the mount location it's perfect, just enough slack, perfect angle.

Sorry about the glare, it's sunny as a mofo out today.

@adamizme; I like the looks of those

Installed 3" full intake. Feels much better for some reason on throttle tip in and just normal driving. Datalogs showed a decent pick up in low rpm torque over my oem sized silicone tih

Installed my 80 duro JBR TMM. The vibration's barely increased. My 70 duro rmm had more vibes during break in vs this mount.

The tranny noise is very pronounced but NCE that's what a radio is for.

Instant improvement in shifting. My main goal with this was to isolate the shifter cables from excessive movement.

Modding addiction.... smh now I want a PMM ugg.

Good work, I had a lift, a brand new (altho not the best) o2 socket, and couldn't even get my o2 sensor to budge. Been soaking it daily with PB and I'm ordering an 11 pc o2 Sensor/sender removal set from Mac, I'm not fucking around this time. Because I couldn't get the o2 sensor out the lift was useless, I have exactly 10k miles on my bitch.

Round 2, hopefully this Sunday.

If you thought the TMM, or RMM was vibe-a-licious, you're gonna LOVE the PMM. With the PMM I have installed it's by far the loudest, you get to hear every link of the timing chain. But doing those 3 mounts sure as hell gets rid of almost all of your torque steer.

Hey guys.

For both of you would suggest KROIL rather than PB Blaster.

PB is good but KROIL is godlike.

And if all else fails, use Locktite Freeze and Release.

That stuff was a great surprise how good it worked on my frozen exhaust.

And if all else fails, use Locktite Freeze and Release.

That stuff was a great surprise how good it worked on my frozen exhaust.

I'll see if I can find any up here, thanks for the tips. I've actually used 3 different types of thread penetrant since Monday. Some smoke like a mofo when hot, others don't smoke at all. We have a plethora of brands at the shop. I'm going to have to cut off the 10mm DP heatshield bolt next to the firewall, there's no room to get vise-grips on the stripped nut in a way that works. the other 2 10mm heatshield bolts came out like butter, all were presoaked.

Try and get some KROIL....just read the reviews on Amazon.
Its no joke. Its been around forever and just works.
If you give yourself a full 24 hours (keep spraying it) it will come apart for sure.

I've done some research and shopping around for KROIL and apparently it's hard to find up in Canada, just like PB was until several years ago, and because it's pressurized and flammable it's super expensive to ship or some companies just wont bother.

After doing a decent amount of research on different penetration oils, it seems that a big favorite for machinists is actually a 'homebrew' 50:50 mix of Acetone:ATF, which in head-head comparisons of break out torque on scientifically rusted nuts & bolts consistently came out on top, @ around 50 lbs, Kroil @ around 100 lbs, Liquid Wrench around 125 lbs, PB @ 215 lbs, WD-40 @ 240 lbs (i wonder if it was normal WD-40 though, they do have some better penetrating formulas, 3in1 etc), Nothing @ 515 lbs.

That was just one experiment, a rather good one, but only on rusted parts, not X-threaded or 'frozen' stuff, so take it with a grain of salt.

Definitely making myself up a batch of ATF/Acetone tomorrow though, use a pump sprayer like we do for Brake Clean at our shop. Gonna try Liquid Wrench and Loctite's F&R as well.

To be quite honest, in over a decade of wrenching professionally, for 99% of shit that was stuck, any decent penetrating oil or a combination of a torch and oil has done the job. And anytime an O2 sensor that I was replacing acted like a bitch it would get it's wires chopped and a normal 22mm socket.

After a week of heat cycling and different penetrating oils I'm still not gonna take the chance with my o2 sensor until I get some better sockets, not gonna risk rounding it off because I'm impatient.

Hit 100K mi. Flushed and replaced the coolant for the first time. Used the Motorcraft Specialty Green coolant (concentrated version of Mazda FL 22). Also drained the refilled the trans. Used the unicorn jizz Motorcraft XT-M5-QS. Second time using it… outstanding stuff!

@Awal; when I pulled mine I did some hard driving then while everything was hot I began the removal process and it popped out pretty easily. I think the heat cycles help a lot. I did mine around 10-15k as well

Yeah, I plan on doing the same, last time it was only mildly hot.

Ordered the OSW-SET (11 pc O2/Sender socket/wrench/chaser set) from Mac today, will be here by next week, so this Sunday is a no go, unless maybe I throw on my EBC. One nice thing about that set I picked up it it has a good thread chaser so I can chase my CS DP/TP threads to make sure they are clear of ceramic coating and any imperfections.

@WFO!; I got a can of Loctite Freeze and Release (returned that weak ass 02 socket for it) to use next Sunday, I'm gonna get my car good and hot and use the F&R on the O2 sesor right before I crack it. I'm still hitting it twice a day with PB blaster, it's going to be hard to tel what actually does the job, the amount of shit i'm throwing at it...

I haven't made up the 50:50 mix yet, I want to find a better Acetone source than nail polish remover, and find a pressurized sprayer I can fit a straw on for fine jobs, if not I'll just jerry-rig a regular straw up for fine jobs.
