Pulled the bumper off and realigned the bracket near the fender after getting backed into last night.

Hmmm not fans of DO I see... Is that primarily due to the lack of a failsafe feature with the DO kit or do you know of other reasons why it should be avoided?

I was looking into the coolingmist kit as I do like their failsafe design and eventually I do plan on BT so I would be using meth for fueling as well as cooling and at that point a failsafe will definitely be necessary... Most likely will be going with 100% meth as well so that puts the AEM and Snow kits out of the running since their flow gauges can't handle 100% meth from what I have read.

Do you guys know what the best place is to pick one of those kits up is? (preferred vendor or direct from manufacturer?)

Thanks for the input by the way!

I'm flipping a coin daily trying to figure out if I should buy an FMIC kit from RPMStore, or a 3" intake first. I have a quest to fulfill after reading up on the BNR S4 and I've set that as my goal.

Well 3.5" running on my K04 until I'm ready for a BNR S4 is kind of overkill no? Either way I'll have to get re-tuned but it's gonna be on there for a while before the S4 gets bought. Plus I'm not planning on building the block unless it decides to ZZB itself. That's why I was thinking 3" as a happy medium.

No not overkill. Your are just better of buying the intake that will get you to where you want to go and then some right off the bat.

Oil change and new plugs yesterday...

Stock plugs cam out after ~30k miles total and all looked okay as far as I could tell (light tan on the ceramic at the tip), except the #3 cylinder plug had some weird deposits, like little pieces of carbon or something on the tip (pic attached), but none of the other plugs had any sign of these deposits... Anyone know what that might mean in terms of engine health or stuff like that? The car has been running strong for as long as I can remember so I don't think its anything major to worry about, just curious what might cause those deposits.

DO controller seems to be the weak link. I cant recall any issues right off hand with the rest of the hardware.

Mocked a bunch of racecar parts, then stared at a leak for hours. PS cooler installed. Race stripes applied.

DD got Halfway used Hawk HPS replaced with new Hawk HPS. Who would have thought a bunch of severe heat cycles makes HPS pads squeal?

That is at this view a little on the clean side. Butt, Really looks good. if i was to be reading for post log run, Id want the motor killed at top of run. But we have logging for that so not necessary.

That other plug looks like he's a little rich.

With me driving regular (75 on interstate and light acceleration threw the gears) I was getting 22.5 MPG consistently.

With me granny shifting and cursing on the interstate @ 65 MPG I was bouncing around 26 MPG.

we will see how it does with stage zero tune and me still driving carefully.

I took my car to the inspection station about a month ago, really thinking I would just get feedback on how much I had to put back to pass inspection. I passed as well. Tx apparently allows one not ready (EGR) and everything else passed

I get around 25MPG and more if I cruise more often.

Well I have no EGR, VTCS, or no cats.

The inspection person really liked my car and was showing off my engine bay to another worker. And I didn't have to pay the $7 inspection fee either.

well - I will see what happens with the stock tune in there. My buddy I got the car from said he would get like 27 to 30 depending on how he drove. Not sure how real those numbers are but we will see

Cleaned my MAF sensor hoping it might cure my rough idle... Nope lol.
And I'm thinking I should go back to no tune from my OTS Cobb one. I get about 17mpg. Pretty much all city and I drive like an ass. But still noticed a dip since installing the OTS map

cobb ots tune is probly better than the stock one. Reason you are using more gas is cause like you said you are driving like an ass with more HP on the cobb tune then on the stock tune. If you drove normal you might even save on gas.

Also what idle issue? Check for leaks... when is the last time you changed the plugs?

Do you have an AP? Might want to post a log.

I pretty much drive 85 on the interstate. I average 21-22mpg. Not great, but better than the 14 I used to get in my Jeep.

I am not physically with my car at the moment, but I will be in a few months. But while I have been overseas I've been ordering some parts I ordered a Snow performance Meth kit, Cobb downpipe, cx racing intercooler piping along with a tr8 front mount, I have a 3inch HTP intake, and I also ordered a Cobb intake box to try to mitigate the heat soak. Pretty excited to get back home a put all these parts on.

Thank for your input, I was just curious really if anyone could identify the little specks of stuff. The car is running just fine, so I don't think there's actually anything wrong, just thought it was odd to see those little specks of stuff on this plug, but none of the others...

Yeah I had seen a few issue pop up related to the controller more recently so I am a little wary of that... I've been considering just biting the bullet and going with one of the aqua kits, since they have the ability to trigger a fault condition and drop boost pressure to save the engine in the event of an issue so I wouldn't need something like the GA in the future when meth is used for fueling with a BT... I'm pretty torn though because it's basically twice as much as the DO kit I was looking at originally lol

Those specks could be carbon burning off in the chamber or in some cases signs of knock. noting that when i tune a carb bike. i would either pull a deg of timing or add fuel. With our ecu i wouldn't be concerned unless your seeing something in your logs.
@SnailSpeed3;
For the cost its hard to beat the DO, worst case upgrade the controller if you have any issues.

Yeah I got the jmf plate for the injection.
What is the pcv plate for? And I was looking the JBR piping but I saw a video of it flexing under boost so I opted for an aluminum piping

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna be emailing my tuner to see what he thinks as well, so if it's an issue I'm sure he can tweak whatever necessary to avoid the issue...

As far as meth goes, that kind of where I'm stuck haha... Do I go full out and get the expensive kit with the bells and whistles or do I go bare bones and upgrade as needed... Decisions, decisions lol

Usually the devil's own doesn't fit into a Meth throttle plate. You'll have to grind it down to fit.

A little late to post, but I finished up my install posted about two weeks ago. I went from stock to the mods in my sig. Still on the base map from Freektune, but its already a bit quicker than stock + an OTS Cobb stage1 map.

After reading Dales info, throttle plat is out the window for me. Seems to be better off pre throttle or multi-port. Unless i was monster turbo ill keep the pre TB

Actually the cold pipe is currently the best and simple for meth.

Muti-port also might not work well with snow performance as stated by dale's new info.
