How much were your stock ones leaking? Any symptoms?

I've never had any symptoms of leaky seals but several people have told me that with 90k on the odometer and a BNR, they are probably just leaking without showing any symptoms.

Symptom is misfire. After I changed the seals and one injector, misfire gone. I used to get a P0303 or a P0300 on a daily basis until the car warmed up. Hasn't happened since.

I get that same thing with cylinder 1, only happens on cold days when it's below 40 outside, misfires until the car warms up. But I'm pretty sure it's the injector in my case because I have normal compression (190 psi) on that cylinder.

Most likely the case yes, I have good compression as well across all four, and the reason I did seals was since I was replacing the injector and I was in there anyway I might as well. You seem to have the exact symptoms I was having.

I suppose you'd have a P0300 more frequent if the seals were bad but, why not get them done while you're in there. When you see the old seals you'll have nightmares. Mine looked like charred donuts that disintegrated when I tried to get them off the injectors.

I got on it about a month ago, pop, big puff of black smoke from the back, limp mode, cel for misfire cyl3. Knew it wasn't the piston/rings/block as I was able to drive it home, and it idled fine.

Took it apart, found this.

Dang...I was gonna switch back to E85 soon and finally finish my E33 tune, but now I'm thinking I should hold off until I can replace my seals. They are the originals and I'm at 90k miles, so even by K04 standards I'm on borrowed time. I just haven't bothered because like I said once the car warms up, or even if it's reasonable warm out (>50°F), it runs like a top and I assumed it was just the injector.

I think you still can run E. My car was the exact same, and misfired like a bitch on 20F days. Rarely threw a CEL but it did show DTC with no CEL more often than not on cold starts. I still wouldn't want it to get worse and misfire while going WOT.

What you can do to band aid the misfire is throw in a bottle of Redline SI-1 on your next fill up at the gas station. That held me over once every 2 weeks until I ordered my seals + injector. I'm not sure how but it reduced the number of misfires to at least not be throwing DTC codes. Lasted for 2 fill ups and then I had to do it again.

Apparently fastenal isn't open on weekends, so my car stays unable to be driven for another week...

So that gives me time to be an even bigger ricer then I already am...

Today I did the typical "I'm too poor right now for an exhaust" resonator delete.

lol.

Actually surprised how good it sounds.

I did another compression test.
Did one 2 days ago with a harbor freight tester... 135psi on all 4.
Tested on my moms Corolla, same shit
Exchanged it today and tried again.

145psi across all 4 again. Returning it and using a friends name brand known good tester.

I have an HF tester but it's a nicer one that they don't make anymore for some reason. Sucks because I know their cheap model is known to leak.

Yeah the one I bought is the cheapest. Should've know but now I do. The amount of tubing on this kit seems a bit crazy as well.
Might get out and change my rear reflectors and license plate lights finally.
Wish I could do a resonator delete today lol

90% done with my spare passenger highlight project.

Of course now I need a driver's side headlight to work on.

Wiring is easy, just gotta aim them, which will be the hard part.

Did you use matching paint behind your front emblem or is it a different shade. Been wanting to paint mine, but I'm worried I might screw up the 2 step VRM.

I'm sitting in ft. leonardwood on orders, watching ups tracker update with a newly delivered turbo charger to my apartment back home. I think this is basically what McCain was going through mentally during his time as a pow.

edit: There is nothing to do in Missouri. It is in the middle of cow fuck nowhere. I've spent all weekend in between my anti terrorism classes (not as cool as it sounds) lurking this god forsaken forum and jerking off.

You ain't kidding. Not as bad as ft. Sill from what I've heard, but still the least populated place I've been to in quite sometime. Any Military Police on here we know of?

I'm so bored I'm actually posting...Normally I come here just to get information or purchase a part and run away like the little ass bandit I am.

I used this it's very very close to the same color just not the same metallics as color match but for small spots that aren't directly next to the red of the car it's nearly impossible to tell. Did the same on the eyelids and fog bezels.

cool, thanks for your service. I'm quartermaster and this just happened to be where they were hosting the anti terrorism officer course. My unit needed and ATO so I volunteered. it's interesting stuff but not as cool as kicking in the doors and shooting babies in the face (that's called COUNTERterrorism...ANTIterrorism is more about serpentine ECPs, gate patrols, preventative measures, etc.)

Still miss being infantry though.

I installed my under-tray (for the first time since owning car) And finally sent freak the proper logs.

Down south, Under-tray a MUST. holy crap the difference in coolant temps, and IAT/BAT.

UR Catback installed....surprisingly a lot easier than expected, and it came in like 10 separate pieces which made install even better. Now to anxiously wait until they ship out my titanium tips!

Videos attached, sorry for potato quality, but sounds should still be good.

@StevenPThomas; just took off the tails and wheels and looked around.
IIRC there are 3 screws and one nut to be removed in each wheel well. Two 10mm bolts on the underside of the bumper below the plate. 1 nylon plug thing and 1 screw under each light and one more screw on either side of the bumper under caps

Previous owner painted them emblems black, but they were in rough shape. Touched them up with some dip. I'd like to get some new ones though. Did the fog light bezels as well. Yes I know, the car is filthy.
