BSD and oil pan baffle finally done. Hopefully my first attempt at sealing an oil pan was successful...
Still need to install the JBR crash bar and mount my oil cooler and run the hoses before I fire it up. But I'm proud that I've gotten this far with no issues and felt like sharing here since my family doesn't seem to care
Pictures when everything is complete.

Families only care that you don't smell like oil and/or gas. And the door to the garage doesn't have finger prints on it. Otherwise your car is a black hole that consumes your time and money.
Nice Progress, mazdaspeed family cares

Switched up my oil to rotella t6. Since my choice of Mobil 1 was complete shit according to others with mazdaspeed3’s. Here’s to better running engines.

Damn picture. I have no idea why it’s sideways.

13 years of driving.... I dont know how the car still seems to be running fine... did a bunch of wot pulls today and still pulls hard... awaiting zoom zoom boom, it revved.... way over redline when I did that.

Was planning to install damond rmm today. Broke every bolt loose except the 17mm going to the tranny got stripped. Had to order the bolt from the mazda dealership in town. Will be done another day...

Test fit the new Hoosier QTPs on the FD wheels. I can’t wait until it gets warm and the track opens.

Changed my tranny fluid from some random black garbo to Redline MTL! Shifting felt very nice! Next is a Damond RMM and possibly a billetworkz shift knob!

Got a resonator welded back in to cut down on some drown and raspiness. Found out that the shop I took it to in order to get the resonator cut out last time did it the lazy way and instead used 2 1/4 straight pipe in my exhaust. Basically I was running 3 inch down to 2.5 down to 2 1/4 and then back to 2.5 out.

Fitment was hassle free. I'm looking forward to taking some logs with the same tune to see what the gains are. While I was swapping the TMIC out, I also did a compression test (160 in all four cylinders) and changed the plugs (NGK 6510 gapped at .026). Here's what the old plugs looked like...

One thing of interest to me was this oily coating (circled in blue, the shinny part is where I ran my finger through it) on the valve cover by intake runner #4 ...

IMG_20180310_131256_LI.jpg

If anyone has some idea what this may be, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

Regardless, I can't wait for the rain to stop here in SOCAL so I can get out and see how it behaves.

You probably need to swap your valve cover gasket. Looks like oil vapors that collected over time in that specific spot.

Didn’t post what happened the other day... Zzb at 112k. Looking into getting a 600 hp rated engine from Overspeed motorsports. Hopefully in the next month I’ll be swapping out. Only had the car for 8k :/ RIP

I def would but that’s kinda out of budget. Overspeed is being recommended so much and the deal he’s cutting me is too good to pass up.

Got my windows tinted. Gotta say, the 4 inch windshield tint is something to get used to, but I feel like Iím watching a movie when Iím behind the wheel now.

Lights! Camera! ZOOM!

I just got her in Nov to replace my totaled 2010 (H&R) and yesterday I had her windows tinted. Today it's wash, oil change and hand wax.

Default Pulling a Tranny

Got everything unhooked to remove the transmission and check the clutch, 'cuz shifting no good. Feel like Ive removed half the car

Pros-winter free car=no broken bolts
Cons-no hoist, wish I could tackle this job in my new Uber garage(currently still in drafting stages)

I stopped at unbolting the transmission so I can weld up a cradle for my floor jack designed to support the transmission

Looks like a trans->t/c leak too...for all the time it takes!

Cool

Ok so just took the speed for a quick drive today, found a nice open strech and and quickly floored it to 149 miles before slowing down to more legal cruising speeds. Was realy just checking if there was more go .. and yes there certainly was.

New ITV22 plugs. She's running like a champ now. I think they had about 15k on them. Crazy how fast these cars chew through spark plugs.
