Lets see... car hot as shit or 15+ degrees cooler... im going with the cooler car as well as the fact that I have a 5mo old daughter and I dont feel like having a whinnie the pooh window screen on the windows of my car which is even more of a hinderance.


Oh, and I re-tinted my tail lights today which believe it or not actually makes them easier to see during the day.

See your reason sounds legitimate. I can understand it when people say it keeps the interior cooler but we all know most people don't mean that shit. I've always been a hater on tint because I won't embrace something that impairs my vision. If you pull the cooler claim for the children I'll agree but we all know most fags do it cuz they think its cool. Its whatever. You must be thinking everyone is limo tinting their cars? 32% wont hinder your vision at all. Doubt it keeps the car cooler but its better than looking like a fish tank.

I'm a big dude, arms couldn't find an easy way of getting in there. Air tools I had access to were finicky. Would have been infinitely easier had I Asian hands and a lift.

This. I have 20 all the way around and a 5% strip on the windshield. Can't wear sunglasses in my car and drive. I don't regret it at all, because I think sunglasses fuck with my vision, and having the tint allows me to go sunglasses free.

Everyone will have their own reasons for why they tint. As long as its close to legal and isnt shitty I could care less. I absolutely hate the jackasses that tint their windsheilds though and doing strips on the top or bottom is pretty freakin queer. Your just asking to be pulled over like that.

As far as the tails, its lignt, about the same as my window tint and when its sunny during the day you can actually see the tails easier (kinda how its hard to see a stop light in sun). Call it rice if you want but it was a decent husband/wife project if nothing else.

I have 20% all around and it actually makes driving at night more pleasant since every pickup truck's low beams are right at my eye level. No auto dimming mirror btw. Also I live in the city where people get broken into all the time so my tint serves as a slight crime deterrent in case I accidently leave something valuable in my car overnight.

The visor strip at the top of your windshield is actually legal in some situations. For example, I have lupus and I can legally have any tint level I want on my car and a 6" visor strip with a doctors note. I chose to get 20% all around with a 5% strip. Also, the visor strip is very helpful when driving in Washington where the sun randomly comes out of the clouds and it's easier and safer to move your head and block the flare with the strip than take your eyes of the road to grab a pair of sunglasses.

In most states the top of the windshield is perfectly legal, you guys don't remember the blue tint that all cars had in the past?

For Texas specifically, you can have whatever darkness including opaque on the top section of windshield. There is a line on your windshield that shows where you can tint to, says as1 or something like that.

Im perfectly aware the top strips are potentially legal. Maybe its different around here but we have a lot of people who will tint the entire windsheild or leave an 8 inch slit to see out of. There are even ones around here that tint halfway down the windsheild or more. Most seem to be ghetto cruisers or jacked up farm boy hick trucks with stacks.

Yeah a full windshield tint is both illegal and ridiculous unless you're a drug dealer or in the secret service. But don't bundle the visor strips into your windshield tint hating. If anything, I think it looks silly to have tinted windows and no visor strip.

I've been on car forums for a long time - this is the first time I've ever seen anyone say window tint is a bad idea. On a bright sunny day, it improves visibility. On a less than bright sunny day, I'd say its neutral. In some night conditions it can decrease visibility - which is why you don't want it on the front windshield, but the strip at the top can be helpful to block glare..

I think it's people with poor night vision (like myself) that dislike window tint. It almost emulates that dulling of your vision during daylight hours, and probably doesn't impair the average person at all.

I also don't wear sunglasses or drop the visor, even if the sun is right in my face.

I just don't think we all see the same, literally.

You must have very bad eye sight. Legal or 32% tint will not distort what you see enough to make a difference. In certain angles of light the car wont even look tinted.

When I bought my car used it had 35% tint and it was so light it almost looked non-tinted.

I still will say on a bright sunny day, tint will improve your visibility. It cuts glare and reflections and keeps you from having to constantly squint. It can be a little harder to see backing up at night, but I will gladly trade that for the sunny driving and heat benefits. I'm talking about street-legal tint here, not goofy limo black.
