What Have I Found?
 

I could use some help because I have no idea what this thing might be. Very new to my MS3, bought it in April, it's a 2013 and the first Mazda I've owned.

I am absolutely loving the car and after lurking on the forums since I bought the thing I really do think I managed to get one in good shape.

A couple weeks after I bought it, I noticed a button at the bottom of the dash below the steering column that did not appear to be original, I haven't pushed the thing and finally had the time today to investigate more thoroughly. The following is what I found:

I spent some time searching the forums after I initially found the button and based on a couple of posts thought it might be for disabling the SWAS. After finding the box that the button is attached to I'm no longer sure what it might be for. I've tried a few different searches but I'm at such a loss as to what this might be that I'm not really sure what to search for.

I do hope I'm not overlooking something obvious here, any help figuring out what this is is greatly appreciated.

I have one too. I just figured it was a shitty dealer installed alarm, that seems to do nothing

Any part numbers or other names on it? Dei? Python? Metra?

looks like a shock sensor for an alarm and the valet button.

Couldn't find any names anywhere. Here are pics of the backsides of both the button and the box, nothing stood out to me, and my google-fu returned no results for any of the numbers.

I am concerned with your google abilities. It is part of an alarm system. I would have it removed personally

Thanks everyone! Having something to start with it looks like it must be a "Karr Alarm." Never run across something like that before, have driven much less desirable cars in the past.
