Default What is this and how do I fix it?

Hi all! A housemate of mine lent me his '10 Speed3 for a couple of days...and when I pulled the steering wheel adjustment release lever, I heard a pingy clunk and this thing fell to the floor. Did not seem to affect anything at all, but what is this thing, how do I fix it and will the car self destruct if I don't put it back in? If the car was mine I would've just ignored it, but since it's not, I feel like I'm bearing some responsibility.

Pretty sure that holds the flux capictor in place. Might wana check that it hasnt moved or that the mr.fusion is still operational.

Kinda looks like a lever. Try the teloscoping feature and try moving it up and down.

Ok what this does is control the bore and stroke of the engine . With this thing broken you more than likely changed the displacement of the engine to like 540 cubic inches. It also controls the metric 7 helicopter roll pins angle on the vvt actuator. The car is probably running like 70 degrees of advanced timing on the exhaust cam now. Now to fix this your gonna have to reverse the intercooler piping to were the hot side hooks to the cold side and cold side to hot side. What this will do is create a negative pressure vortex and will pull 25psi of boost at idle and have like -35 of vacum at wOT. Also now in reversing these pipes you will have 6 reverse gears and one forward gear. I'm sure it will be tricky to drive with the backwards boost and one forward gear but you should have thought about that before breaking this piece. It was hidden in the colum for a reason.
