What octane do you use?
 

Hey guys....I'm sure this question was asked a bijilllian times but I'm a newbie with the MS3, picking mine up tomorrow. What octane do you all use in it? Premium octane is recommended in the manual but what about a lower octane such as Mobil Special 89? Thanks!

Are you serious? These cars require Premium because they have Forced Induction. If you run any lower than 91 you will experience problems (aka engine knock caused by pre-detonation). I always put 93 in my car. Dude, before you make another thread, read the Intro into your MS3. Really do some research on this car or you will get eaten alive here.

Go with the premium only, especially if you start modding and get a tune.
You could probably get away with lower octane than premium on stock map and not going WOT but what's the point of getting a speed if you can't go WOT.

93-91 octane only, do not run anything else, the car will knock and you will have problems.

Please read the intro to your mazdaspeed before posting anything else. You really need to get educated before owning this thing.

If you are on fumes and all that is available is 87-89, then fine. Use that but drive easy. Otherwise go with at least 91.

Also, if the dealer gives you a free fillup MAKE SURE they put in at least 91. It's happened before.

1 lb of sugar and 87 octane will give you 93 octane.
