What part is this?

I just pulled my rear seats out for an upcoming time attack day and under the bench seat in the rear there's a part that I can't figure out:

Anyone know what this is? Best suggestion yet is fuel tank access or float switch.

do you have the tech package? maybe it's something to do with the bose system

Reedy 09-03-2011 09:48 PM

Fuel tank access? Or pressure sensor for back seat passengers?

Sorry I didn't fully read your first post.

asidrive 09-03-2011 09:54 PM

in my old subaru something that looked similar to that was for the fuel pump/float switch.

Reedy 09-03-2011 09:57 PM

I am reading through the workshop manual as we speak. needle in a haystack tho.

You mean the black cover? That's the access cover for your in-tank fuel pump?

E.Tinker 09-03-2011 11:07 PM

01-14b-10 of your service manual...it's the cover that gets you access to your in tank fuel pump unit.

Fun stuff eh, I had to replace a lot of fuel pumps @ work. Stupid BMW is notorious for both their HPFP and their in tank pumps.

You're all wrong. Its the canooter valve access port. Very important piece and very delicate.

Reedy 09-09-2011 03:58 PM

You mean this?
