Gen1, 20, bought it over the summer. Reading through this I am so surprised at how much older everyone is. I thought it was much more of a younger car like myself and my boyfriend had a gen1 when he was 17.

I'm 42. Got my 2012 Genpu July 31. Just turned 5K miles yesterday. Previously had a 05 RX8. I gave up and traded it after engine replacement at 70K. At least Mazda covered it, after all they are prone to engine fail. I am very pleased with my MS3. i pay $79/mo for full coverage.

25. 2010 MS3. Insurance is 175 for that car right now but my only accident comes off in March so it should come down a few bucks.

LOL at you for complaining for high insurance!

I am in my early 20s with no tickets/accidents on the policy and paying something like $150/month for the most basic insurance that there is. Which isn't different at all compared to when I used to own a Gen.1. Don't want to find out how much it is going to be on renew time since I got some tickets this summer...

I am in Alberta, Canada in case that you guys are wondering.

I liked these since they came out and pondered the idea of buying a Gen1 when it was new.

And i really dispised the happy face front end but the car looks pretty good. Only other problem is that it resembles a mini-van in looks, not size.

Last car was a 96 Cobra, was ragged out when I bought it, worst purchase ever, though it ran a 13.5 with mid-pipe back and 3.73 gears, street tires.

Also from Alberta... I'm not insured right now (out of country, coming back in April to drive ), but last time I got an insurance quote for me (26) and my wife (23), it was $115 combined ...

My speed3 is the first car I bought for myself at age 32. If I bought a car and I were 16 right now, with the same budget, I'd get the same thing. If I were 20 years older, maybe I'd wait for the 2014 diesel 'speed6, since it will probably be more of a sleeper, and as my friends age, I'll need bigger rear seats to haul their flab.

Besides, I'll never have kids, so the closest I'll come is my shiny growling silver panther.

Turned 18 in June, got my Speed 6 in August. Paying too much for insurance but oh well. I'm paying 250/mo for the speed and 150/mo for my svx... comprehensive of course. No accidents, no tickets. Being young sucks for insurance.

Purchased my Speed 6 at 40 y/o as one of my birthday gifts to myself.....now 44....considered the Speed 3 but felt the 6 was a little more refined and mature...in addition to the sleeper factor...funny tho...i find myself considering purchasing a speed 3 to replace my aging SVT contour. As someone else said once you get on boost you're hooked...

Does anyone have experience switching insurance mid-cycle? I am 23, live in NorCal, have a clean driving record (no tickets, no accidents ever), have AAA, and pay $134/month for full coverage (I'm on the month-to-month plan). I heard that if I switch to other companies, my rate may go a significant amount as they treat the MS3 as trim of the MZ3. Will there be any significant penalties for switching (both monetary and not)? If not, which companies are good?
