Got that right but if you don't stay out of boost on ours you'll get about the same MPG. Sixth gear saves lots and lots of gas on the highway but at those damned stop lights I gotta get on it, always seems like there's somebody next to me that thinks they're faster....wrong almost always.

Got mine when I was 41. Old car was a 2001 Taurus because of
2 kids and built a new house. Test drove Mini Cooper (useless
even with 2 smaller kids). Then to VW's, liked it but the seats and
interior were so blah. Soon as I sat in the driver's seat of the MS3
I felt like I was home. I'll never forget the first test drive. What a rush.

I was only getting about 10-12mpg in my truck....so To me the gas mileage I've been getting is borderline ludacris haha.

........17 year old, graduates high school so parents buy 2012 speed3 and give to him as a gift (17 year old stops driving daddys 2011 camaro ss and mommy 2012 suburban). 17 year old proceeds to buy: intake, tbe, BT, cobb ap, coilovers, new rims/tires, recaro seats and blacks out windows (all on mommy mastercard).

2 weeks later 17year old totals speed cause he was racing a civic from a redlight (light was red but 17yr old honked 3 times and both took off getting tboned by semi)...mommy and daddy buy 17 year old a 2012 sti because its awd so he can launch faster...

Dude this happens a lot. I went to a very "well off" high school where kids totaled cars left an right and their parents simply got them another. One kid got an evo9, and totaled it less than 12 hours later on the way to school trying to take a right hand run at an intersection doing 55, then t-boned a kid who had a brand new rsx-s. another kid who has a brand new 335i wrapped it around a phone pole, and had another two days later. Parents are writing their kids death wishes for them, and the sad part is, I don't even blame the kids. They're brought up getting whatever they want

I'm totally with you on that one. Sorry for letting your thread get jacked, OP. When I was young, I was at the mercy of what Mom and Dad would let me do. Since I worked on a farm all the time doing manual labor and shit I hated, I felt somehow justified. I admit I likely had better amenities than many others, but I worked my ass off for them. I had a 25-hour part time job on top of school and the farm so when I had time to drive like a psycho, you better believe I took it. Nowadays kids don't do shit, but they still feel justified. Probably why they have so much more time on their hands to drive like idiots fuckin' people's couches left and right.

Okay back on track! Just glad I didn't get this car till I was 24 or I likely wouldn't be here.

Hahaha I'm just about 23, but had I had this car when I was 17, I would be dead as well. I couldn't drive the ford focus I had at anything under 50 and that piece was slower than molasses. Thank god that I matured...kinda

Littlescroll 10-08-2012 10:01 PM

Just got mine in July and I'm 25. Read everything I could about the car for the last 4 years before I was in a stable work situation and saved up a decent down payment .

Spec 10-08-2012 10:02 PM

jseams 10-08-2012 10:22 PM

I'm 42... so yes, mid-life crisis. :147:

bvbull200 10-08-2012 11:20 PM

30 here. First car I bought that I really "wanted" was my GTO when I was 24. Needed a little more utility as I prepare for a family, but wanted to keep the fun factor. Seem to have found a great fit with the MS3.

chrispy2020 10-08-2012 11:41 PM

21 this shit beats my corolla i had :Banane21:

abelardo 10-09-2012 12:04 AM

I'm 23 and graduated with my A.A. started my career, then bought my velocity red speed3 3 weeks ago. I liked utility of my Fit (FMHN) but needed more speed and something a little more fun to play with.

Yep, 07 with 36k on it when I bought it, now has 46k, paid 16

Dralphy 10-09-2012 05:08 AM

Am 22, bought brand new in September. First car I financed on my own. I'm not one of those guys who thinks they're cool by wearing gauged ear rings, baggy pants to the floor or preppy Hollister shirts. I do my own thing and it has worked so far. Most of the people I graduated with are still very immature, most have kids.

I'm getting married in February, no kids yet, maybe later down the road.

I'm with this guy. 43 here when I bought the 2012 MS3.
I was 40 when I bought my Gen one and had an STi hatch in between the two.
Old man in a young guys car.

For as much fun as the car is, it's amazingly practical and gets decent mileage.

crankshaft 10-09-2012 06:14 AM

44 here.
I daily drove my Buick for 7 years, then bought a Saturn SL2 4 years ago during that gas crunch. The fuel savings was above the cost to insure 2 cars. After 4 years I decided that the economy car is still OK, but I just needed a little more punch.
