Bought mine at 39, I'm 40 now. Wanted to get back to a f/i platform to mod. I've been modding turbo cars though for 20 years now. Once boost is in your blood it's hard to get rid of it..... |
If you've always been a car guy and you can afford it, it's not a midlife crisis. A midlife crisis is when a 40 year old buys a brand new Corvette that he has no intentions of taking past 4000 rpm. I was 23 when I bought my speed 6. I'm 26 now and planning to build an Ultima GTR before I'm 30. When I'm older people are going to think I'm having a midlife crisis but going fast is just in my DNA. I'll have fast cars and bikes until I physically can't ride/drive them anymore. |
Bought mine myself at 20 for my bday. I also have a 14month old daughter and the 2 door balt was not cutting it. |
i'm 35 & spent 10 years building fast VWs but got tired of wrenching more than i was driving! cross shopped against the genesis 3.8 and almost bought it but their forums are PACKED to the gills with reliability complaints about everythin from bluetooth to wobbly driveshafts to warped dashes on brand new cars! so, i already love my 09 mazda5 so i test drove the ms3 and bought it right after xmas last year. best bang for buck out there right now! Bought mine two years ago when I was 20 |
29 here. Second Mazda 3 I have owned. Tried every other car out there and nothing is as fun to drive. It is a close second to the motorcycle and or riding a downhill mountain bike. lol |

36, similar story to most, modded turbo cars years ago, had a some kids, put it on hold, came across the speed and bought it. |
25 When i bought mine, 26 now. Wife was the one who wanted me to get it. I just liked it bc it rode better and had more power then my Civic SI. |
37 when I bought mine last June, 38 now... Was tired of driving an SUV, wanted something that could move, had to keep wife and kid in mind. |

31 bought my 07 ms3 at 29. I actually waited until a used one was cheap enough to afford FMMN(my mortgage). Wanted an ms3 since their inception. |
.. |
38 and no complaints yet. |
I was 19 girl friend wanted a Mazda and while she was looking I figured I would too. I had an old gas sucking truck and a Jeep trades the Jeep because I dumped way to much money into the truck motor. They gave me a good trade in deal and I walked off with a black genpu and she got just a 3 good day. Now I have that my beast truck and bought another Jeep haha I just can't have enough vehicles. |
I'm 31, bought the car a year ago. Never drove one and never knew anyone with one. Walked into dealer and bought it....best descision I ever made. I finally have a constructive hobby that I enjoy that doesn't leave my liver enzymes through the roof! |
21. the dude at the dealer kept on pitching the rx8. according to him, it was more suitable for my age bracket . rx8s are nice but i love my gen pu |
25. Bought it when I decided to go back to school and needed to tighten the budget belt (sold the STi) |
I'm too old to remember if I already posted in this thread. I'm 38, and this is the first car I've modded (putting an intake and fartcan on my Protege doesn't count.) And this is really only the third car I've owned. I tend to keep things until they literally fall to pieces. |
28. |
I'll be 27 when I buy mine next year. I'm in med school with a wife and daughter, and I want something fun/moddable but practical. |
I'll be 44 in 19 days. |
19. Found a sweet deal on a MGM Speed with low miles. Had the cash in hand. I turn 20 in march. |
31, bought the car a few years ago. Better family car than my F-body, just as much fun to drive. |
25. bought mine in september. |

22 just bought mine in december. |
I may be the oldest of the "old farts" in this thread. I may have posted earlier and am having a "senior moment" and have forgotten. Just in case: I'm 61 years old. Soon to be 62. Bought the MS3 new almost 4 years ago. This ain't a mid-life crisis thing for me. The Speed 3 is my 4th hot turbo, previous models were modded Saabs or Volvos. My first hot ride was when I was 19, a brand new 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 four speed, posi, 3:91 gears, delete everything - no air, no power steering, no power anything. We bought it to go racing. Pulled the engine almost right after receiving it and blueprinted it for showroom stock racing - instant warranty void. It would lift the left front tire on launch. Drastically underrated factory engine that could make another 60-70 horses on the dyno just by blueprinting it. I miss that car. Please excuse the old fart's trip down memory lane. BTW: My lightly modded MS3 can do 40-120 rolls in 12.5 seconds. Old racers never die, they just change to newer rides and fart more frequently. I don't know which smells worse, my catless exhaust or me. lol. |
24, bought it on June 2010 |
Bought in early 09 when I was 34. Will have owned the car for 3 years in March. |
Guys, nobody is keeping track of these posts. If you wanted a poll, OP should have included that. Poll thread fail. |
