Average age at the time of purchase for this poll according to my math (and yes I went through every post and every page and did it legit) is 29.3100775 years of age AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. Your welcome you fucking fucks! Lol

Schmitty5 02-02-2012 01:56 PM

Let me ask you this... Will I ever grow up? I'm 25 now and I've loved speeding ever since I was 12 when I got in my first gokart :saevilw:

What about the Median and Mode? Averages aren't everything.

Kidding.

The highest age was 60 and the lowest was 17. As for anything else I am all out of gives-a-fuck

Stealth01 02-02-2012 02:29 PM

Was 43 when I bought the MS6 three years ago. Wife says it's my midlife crisis car, but I tell he that would have been a Porsche.

eliminator 02-02-2012 02:37 PM

29er here

web264 02-02-2012 02:39 PM

Just got mine this past Novembe. I was 20

GODspeed7 02-02-2012 02:58 PM

Well i am not going to continue my calculations any further but I think we can all agree that out of the 129 people I calculated I got a pretty good consensus and we will stick with the average age of purchase is 30 even. Deal?

RussM 02-02-2012 03:11 PM

I bet your alls insurance is killer!! 60!

SS_27 02-02-2012 03:12 PM

I got my 09 at 23.

Spinnbait 02-02-2012 03:17 PM

24. Tired of riding the shuttle to work and living in an apartment, so I moved and bought a MS6.

Owned it for a year and 2 months. Then it was time for another SUV. Figures that I'd trade my 6 for a truck right before the most mild winter in history...

All that I have to say is "fuck car payments!". Shoulda bought a '93 civic. SOHC FTW!

GH07MS3 02-02-2012 03:21 PM

20 when i got mine for 12 250 last may all my money!

nowherekid109 02-02-2012 03:30 PM

just bought my MS6 on monday, and I'm 22

I already did the calculations. Out of the 129 people that had posted so far in this thread it came out to 29.3100775 years old at the time of purchase.

GODspeed7 02-02-2012 04:02 PM

New current average age is 29.2661871 years old at time of purchase. I am MSF official bean counter. Woo hoo

char181 02-02-2012 06:02 PM

Bought my speed3 at 62 and love it. Zoom zoom

CCC 02-02-2012 06:05 PM

I'm almost 17.

My parents got my speed for me for my 15th birthday cause I was bored with my gokart and I couldn't wait anymore to mod a real car lol!

Scoobs 02-02-2012 06:09 PM

Bought mine on my 37th b-day last March.

I was going to get a Mustang 2011 5.0l but the utility, room, and price of the MS3 sold me.

AWD MS3 would make me trade mine in, other than that I'm happy of my choice.

mysleeper6 02-02-2012 06:27 PM

41 when I bought my MS6 4 years ago.

CJM 02-02-2012 07:09 PM

I know I'm treading dangerous waters revealing this, but:
15 when I got it (yes, before I was even fully licensed); am 17 now.

For those who are concerned: No tickets; no crashes; no ZZB.

All2envyMS3 02-02-2012 07:48 PM

31 got it last may

Every single car I have owned has been a hatchback, Except the 2011 civic si I tried to buy right before the speed3
Yes I know, FMHN!

Best Car i have had yet
My son's love it :)

CCC 02-02-2012 07:49 PM

I don't care though I would have gladly accepted this car when I was 15.

hsraffety 02-02-2012 07:49 PM

haha, didn't even see that :)

Unfortunately, I don't have a go-kart :( lol

I will never understand why parents buy sport(ier) cars for kids

Not to bash you young ins, but I know how I was when I was a teen, and am very glad my dad was lower middle class. I can't even imagine what your ins. premiums are

if you don't mind me asking, what were the circumstances for you to have a car before you had a license?

Macncheese 02-02-2012 08:07 PM

Purchased in November of 2011, at 24.

It was a couple of weeks before I got my permit, and we needed a new vehicle because one vehicle ('88 Mazda B2200 pickup) was too "unsafe" by my mother's standards and I had begged my way out of the other vehicle ('07 Ford Expedition) because ghey. So, the obvious "safe" choice was a turbocharged sports car...

I believe they did it as a reward for doing well in school (i.e. taking BC Calculus at age 14 and so forth).

Well this makes me want to go and punch infants. Idk if it's out of jealousy or disbelief as to why your family
1. Bought you a car
2. Bought you THIS car
Oh well could be worse. Keep a good head on your shoulders and don't do anything that will make us hate you or tell you we told you so.
Which brings our new highest age of purchase to 62 and our youngest to (god help us all) 15 what a crazy difference! I'll tally up the new average later tonight when I'm not at work driving freight trains. Lol

If it's any consolation for you, I've been (dual) enrolled in college since 9th grade (I'm taking 300-level math courses right now), so please don't punch any infants.

If it's justifiable to reward your child for academic excellence, then I'd say I've definitely earned the car. However, many others would say that something like this should be earned through hard work, which is just as reasonable.

At the end of the day, I'm well aware of how spoiled and lucky I am that I have the Mazda and I'm well aware that it's probably too much car for someone at my experience level. I care about it too much to do anything unsafe in it or to it. I hardly ever break the speed limit, to be honest (not that there's much opportunity to in DC, but still).

And, yeah, that's a hell of an age delta isn't it? 47 years.
lol @ the "god help us" comment :)

asall667 02-02-2012 09:25 PM

20 when I got mine...not 21. Seeing all those 30-40 numbers makes me feel like I don't deserve a car of such value until im older

Well good for you. Sounds like a good start and as long as my kid gets a scholarship to college I will buy him a car. But while he is in high school, his ass is mine and he will borrow my god damn shoes if I feel that is the best mode of transportation. Lol

You are taking this bean counter thing seriously! Thanks for your efforts. Are you serious bout driving choo choos? My whole family, dad, grandpa, great grandapa, uncles, great uncles, were railroaders.

ChimmyChong 02-02-2012 09:44 PM

Hell yea CJ. I count your academic achievements as "Hard Work".

Anyways, I bought mine at the age of 20. Saved $ from years of "hard work" and I should have it paid off before the world ends :)

Sorry, I didn't see this until now.

My parents are pretty clever, and they put me as the primary driver of the pickup that I described in an earlier post. Thus, the insurance isn't too bad. And, my parents make pretty decent money (I wouldn't say we're rich, though. More like in between middle to upper-middle class.)

Thanks Matt :)

By the way, the last meet was pretty awesome.

Mike took me out in his car to "motivate" me to mod more, which resulted in my vocabulary immediately being diminished to four-or-less letter words, if you catch my drift :)

After that, Jonathan actually let me drive his car, which was also crazy fast. I think it was on 22 psi.

After that, a few of my other friends wanted me to try out their cars, so I got to drive a stage 1 WRX and a stage 2 MS6, and got a ride in an SRT4.

I'd say the night was pretty victorious.
