So I was driving home from work today minding my own business when this dick in a C300 starts to fuck with me. It kinda pissed me off and there's not a soul in site on an empty road so I decided to race him. So we line up at a light (timing was perfect) and get ready to go and out of nowhere some 2013 5.0 Mustang pulls up and decides to join in. My first thought was okay guess I'll get my ass kicked by the Stang but beat the living shit out of the Benz.

Before we all get the green light I turn off my AC and disable traction control (obvious reasons). When we get the green I take off pretty well with only mild wheel spin in first followed by about the same in second, by this time the Benz is in my rear view mirror (the guy looked really pissed, I could see his middle finger clear as day :biggrin:). To my surprise, as I look back at the road (and stop laughing), I'm right on the stangs tail and I'm gaining ground in third. Before we let off (because of an on coming red), I'm right there next to his passenger side window. His V8 was growling like a pissed off lion and my pu was vacuuming something gnarly. As we stop the dude looks at me stunned. I was equally stunned. WTF was my car doing next to a 400HP stang. The guy rolled his window down and just said one word "damn..." I looked at him gave him a polite nod and thumbs up and went on my way. :eek2:

I'm sure this guy must have fucked on take off or was a shit driver but me gaining on his car was a surprise. I'm sure if we had more road he would have pulled on me hard but luckily for me we only managed to hit 70 or 80 before we let off. There is really nothing special about my car. I only have a mildly modded pu with a mild AP tune.

This car surprises me all the time, and that's why I love it, if it's not keeping up with the stang it's owning the G8, 335i and modded WRX. Mazda fucking owned it with this car and with everyone's support here this forum it's so much better. My hats off to Mazda and to all the helpful members of this forum, they've built a great car and we'e built a great community.

Yes, my car has surprised me in the same way also. Friend of mine bought a 2010 Camaro SS manual. We both happened to pull up to a red light with no traffic around or ahead of us. I figured he was going to walk on me pretty good, but was wondering how the 2010 MS3 (all stock) would fare.

Well, I launched it nearly perfect and his nose was at my rear bumper. At this point, I figured that since he was hooked up, that he would start pulling on me in gear. Never did. I was in the middle of third before he let off, and he still hadn't gained any ground on me. When he pulled by me and rolled his window down, he shrugged his shoulders and said "well, it's still a fun car".

I know that eventually the SS would have pulled on me, but the car really impressed me holding him off that long.

I was right on a caddy cts-v's bumper, maybe a half a car or so from a 4th gear pull from 60 to about 100mph. I was def surprised even though I know that the V is a heavy pig. But from a dig, fo sho would of gotten raped.

I agree, Camaro SS should have spanked me. I was pointing out my "win" I guess you would say, not the fact that I was faster (I know it isn't). Don't know why he couldn't gain on me, if he sucked at shifting a manual or what.

Never raced a SS but I pulled on a charger hemi, new mustang, 1 370 from a stop and one from 60 and beat them both. My car is pretty quick and stock, ran a 13.9 last year. It's a fun car for 20k, could not find anything in the price range that was new that was nearly as fun. I like the looks of the GTI better but it is slow compared to the speed and so is the SI. I don't even want to mod it because I have 100k warranty and rather just make it look better. Maybe if I keep it after warranty I will go big turbo but don't really want to spend what the car is worth to go faster.

100k warranty? You wasted your money.

Why? It was only $750. Besides the way I drive it I am sure it will be well worth it sometime down the line.

To be honest I feel like spending 15k in mods on a 20k car is a waste of money but I wouldn't burst anybody's bubble.

No I am on the right site as I own a mazdaspeed 3. Just because you are " waiting" or your intake and rmm doesn't mean you are some heavy hitter lmao. Did you pick up internals yet? Ap? I know all about modding and had plenty of modded vehicles just don't plan to spend that type of money on this one. It is a nicely balanced car in stock form and with 100k warranty means I can enjoy it with no worries. I will lower it with some light weight wheels and enjoy it with warranty. I did the internals,drop in filter, and mounts but I don't really consider that mods just made the ride smoother. I will get an ap and downpipe but even with that the car is still considered stock.

Oh no no, it's 15K for bolt ons. 5K for a down pipe, 5K for a intake, $50 for an AP, 4000 for coilovers, 950 for stickers. Shits expensive!

Bumper to bumper warranty. This is my 5th new car and my credit is pretty good. Usually I can get the extended for free but I settled for $750. Covers engine, trans, basically power train which is what I wanted.

Suspensions will definitely be about $1800,wheels 1300, tires $800, full exhaust $1000, tune $500, intake $260, mounts $250, internals $300, big turbo with all associated parts $5000, shifter set up $200, clutch, $800, flywheel $???, intercooler $500-$1000, LSD $1000 ( but I guess not needed), I'm sure I missed some things but that sounds pretty hefty to me.
