Will there be 2014 Mazdaspeed 3

Potential buyer of MS3, wondering should I wait for 2014 model?

So far, I didn't see any announcement from Mazda regarding the 2014 MS3
Is 2013 the last year for gen two MS3?

maisonvi 09-15-2013 01:26 PM

No more mazdaspeed 3. Buy one now. They might be coming out with a speed 6 again is the rumors.

[R]usty 09-15-2013 01:30 PM

Not a chance in 2014 or 2015. I'm thinking not at least till 2016+ if then.

Buy one now.

It will be two years at least before a speed version of any mazda car is released, so go ahead and get one. The only difference between the 12 and 13's are the wheels and tech package. The tech package on the 13's is worth the extra money compared to the tech package on the 12's if you don't care about the color of wheels or tech package try and find you a 12 I would think you can get a pretty good deal one then.

Also the mirrors are black and the rear valance is black as well. Tech package on the 13's is well worth it.

I got a black 2012 so I don't have to worry about that stuff :)

+1 on the tech package for the '13s being worth it

[R]usty 09-15-2013 11:13 PM

In my cars day all you had was the push button start, small nav, and Bose with tech. Now they have the fancy HID, USB port, auto leveling lights, rain sensing wipers, big nav screen, HD radio, Pandora, blind spot monitoring... you people are so spoiled.

If you care about the long term development of the MS3 and its aftermarket, you should want the Focus ST (and eventual RS) to succeed. Unless there is a miracle and Mazda is able to tweak the DISI for the next gen MS3, then the ST is likely to share more DNA with our cars than the next MS3 will... especially if the rumors of a N/A Skyactiv motor in the Gen 3 are true.

Minus the fact voice NAV for GPS doesn't work in stop and go traffic and sms doesn't read text messages.

MS3CB 09-17-2013 06:06 AM

fuck tech package. i bought a "fast-ish" car to not have all those commodities. (and when nav is outdated you just look like an idiot trying to sell a car w/ a shit system AND its more stuff to break.)

Cevaes_64 09-17-2013 07:27 AM

I Effing love my tech package..... is well worth it

Tech package is more then just NAV...

Blind spot monitoring, HID headlights, Key less entry, push button start, LED tails, and a number of other features...but yeah I'm sure your resale without these options will be much easier then with them.... :banghead::smashfreakB:

To each there own, sometimes i wish i had led tails and push to start.. but once out of warranty. I dont want to be responsible for fixing those things. Thats just my opinion of course.

Im with you man. I want a radio, cruise control and air conditioning. thats it. I will turn a key, I will mechanically move my seat, I will even check my own blind spots.

It was nearly impossible finding a ms3 around me without the tech package for the 13s. Either way though, my warranty for just about everything was shot the moment I donated on this site so meh its a moot point about warranty problems.

MS3CB 09-17-2013 11:44 AM

@WAMBUSHHHH!; my warranty was shot probablly two days after i got my car.. but i am blessed to be mechanically inclined, and will just pull everything off, in a WORSE case scenario. Otherwise, ill handle the small shit.

Close isnt good enough...

Ford screwed the pooch by not dropping the 2.3 in it. Not to mention, how overpriced it is.

My Warranty is probably gone by now, which was basically as soon as I drive off the lot....LOL..

And there is noway I would rip all this out and revert back, unless I had no other choice so...

At first I didn't really want the Tech, but wanted the CWP and it was with TECH. Now I'm actually glad I have it, due to the HIDs, LED's, and even the push button is nice. There is quite a few functions to the Tech package that I don't even take advantage of, bc It's not a concern right now for me.....

Haltech - I agree, I would get a Rex before I got an ST if the MS3 wasn't available, or I didn't want to get a used one.

If you could get one for the bare naked MSRP of $24,115, I'd say it's a decent value.

Dealer inventory around here is all 29-30k though, and you can buy a '13 GT Stang for that with the current incentives.

fishin53 09-17-2013 12:49 PM

did i hear someone is looking for a speed3?

Did you just suggest a Stang over a MS3? Sad day. :pokey:

If you are not going to go with the MS3, get a EVO or STI. For heaven sake don't get a stang. IMO of course...

Its fast for little money

No.. Hal was referring to the Focus ST as being overpriced. I was agreeing - you can't find one anywhere near the 24k MSRP. They start at the upper end of 27 and are usually 29-30.5. If you're going to pay 30K for a Ford, you may as well get the 5.0.

Cheapspeed 09-17-2013 05:20 PM

Anyone noticing lots of middle aged men driving the ST's?

I grief a yellow ST anytime I see him on my morning commute.

The 5.0 is a very, very capable car for the money. Extremely quick with basic bolt ons and can handle the twisties quite well.

I groaned you for saying sti. Should never be an option. Pieces of junk.

Yes and they never wanna race, I try all the time! The sad part is I am a middle aged man driving a Speed3! I did get a Fiesta ST to play around, had manufacturers plates on it.

HTO-06 09-19-2013 08:02 PM

I'm 61 and this is my second speed 3. I regretted selling my '08 so much, that, after 3 years of being in denial, I admitted my mistake and bought a '13.

I don't race it, don't plan on modding it, I just like hatchbacks, sticks and torque all in one package. My gen one was 100% reliable and this new one is following suit - the only mod he'll get is better tires. God, the Dunlops suck.

As far as a 3rd generation speed 3 is concerned, Automotive News was tipped off that when the new speed 3 arrives, look for 2.5 liters and around 295 horses. They don't want to do AWD as that would put the car at a price point they don't want. To them the speed 3 is their budget sports car; higher prices, now that's in the 6's territory.

Lets just hope that AN wasn't fed a line of bullshit......
