Congrats on the ride. Porsche is one of my favourite brands. Just be mindful of maintenance and the ims bearing. Establish a good relationship with a specialized Porsche mechanic over a big fancy shop or dealer.

Nice ride!!!

As you likely found out 997's can be found for surprisingly reasonable prices and are fun to drive. It's been a while since I looked does the 997.1 S have the 3.6 or 3.8? If it's the 3.6 be mindful of the IMS bearing Lex mentioned. Bookmark Sun Coast Porsche for your parts.

Most importantly, enjoy your new toy.

The IMS issue was fixed in mid 2005 so all the 997's after that don't risk having the engine blow up for no reason =)

I'm chancing my oil later today. I'll basically do a lot of the work myself to save up because specialized porsche shop aren't cheap. Even the indy ones.

What's tricky about this car is that there's not much room anywhere. Took me forever to take out the mufflers to have them modified. I also already installed the front fog LED and rear LED's but that was easy.

I thought the mod bug would go after I get a nice car but it got worse. I'm already planning on lowering it but it won't be as easy as the pu. You have to the take the interior apart to access the rear shocks.

You haven't driven enough 911s. I've driven them enough times to know that my MS3 is a much more tame and comfortable daily driver. The Carrera S is actually a pretty stiff car.

OP, congrats on your purchase. I recently took a Carrera 4s out for a spin. Envious I was.

I bought a used set of wheels to replace the stockers. Never been a fan of the blacked out look. Going to get them powder coated but not sure what color. Gold or bronze maybe.

Apparently these wheels are pretty light. 24lbs for the rears 19x12

I just received the wheels yesterday. Turns out the gunmetal paint is still in really good shape. Just the outer strip is flaking off so I sanded it down to the aluminum. Looks really good so the car will be black on gunmetal (I hate the blacked out look)

Getting some Bridgestone potenza S04 pole position this weekend and getting the tires on.
Waiting for eibach springs to arrive tomorrow and doing the install this week as well (1 inch drop on stock shocks)

I still have the pu. It sits outside and I use it when the weather is too terrible to drive the 911. Looking to trade the pu for a clean 964 (air cooled 911) when the opportunity comes

by the way - it is insane how light the TE37 are

19x12, that's some serious rubber. My buddy has a 1990 964, that car is sweet, his is white and in excellent condition.

Guys, I am looking to install a tow bar and harness on the pu for trailer duties. I plan on having a 500lbs trailer from Uhaul and a 400lbs bike on it. There is no information on the towing capacity of the car in the manual or online which probably means it is not approved for towing. Do you guys think it would be ok?

LoL didn't realize you were OP, I saw pics of porsche and then random towbar question from brownie.

I have a curt 11383 on my car and have towed over 1000lbs gross weight (trailer + load) on it without issue. I own one of the harbor freight folding trailers.

no issues with the tranny slipping? Thanks that helps a lot actually. Looks like you have well over 1000lbs of lumber there + the trailer

I initially tried to sell locally but dealer wanted it for 15k (my ass) and it wouldn't sell at 17K private so now it's getting trailer and shitty weather duty...

Yeah, there was a little over 100 sticks of lumber on there in that picture. Trailer is about 300lbs. The car had no problems getting going, a little more slip on hills was needed but no issues in that sense. Cruising along it felt fine.

That said, I have had some clutch slip problems over the winter but I think it's my RMS and a lot of torque, it holds on fine otherwise. Pulling the trailer might have contributed though, especially backing into the driveway (which takes some slip to do it slowly enough with a trailer).

Quick update. After wash and blackfire sealant. Also just completed installation of H&R springs. I can do the MS3 in 4-6 hours. Took me four days just to install springs...fukin' Germans...
