Have you talked to Jamie about replacing it?

Dano 10-27-2011 08:15 AM

Interesting dyno proven timing curves starting from 2500

Phate 100% E [dont have a 7K number for him]

Code:

-1        8        10        11.5        13        16.5        19.5        22        24.
XLT 50% E

Code:

4        6        9        10        12        14        16        18        19        20
bewsted ??% [not sure he was on a dyno with these]

Code:

0        6        9        11        12        13        15        17.5        19.5
Dano 3/9 in-progress curve [V Dyno lol]

Code:

1        2        6.5        9        10.5        12        14        16        18        19

RichieRichness 10-27-2011 08:36 AM

Here is my e22 timing curve
Code:

0        3        5.5        7.5        9.5        11        12        12.5        13.5        15

It's kr free. I'm not holding 2+ load values past 5300 rpm so the last few rows are interpolated up.

Oh yeah been taken care of he replaced it with a moly but I wanted to use stock for a while and I needed some quick cash so I sold it to someone local, this was before I got my tune just right so now I realize I need it. He def took care of me though no doubt.

superskaterxes 10-27-2011 10:32 AM

Code:

4.00 6.50        8.50        10.50        13.00        15.00        16.00        17.50        18.50        19.50
heres mine. on E30.

dont forget these are all gona be different depending on turbo/boost/VVT ect. so dont go trying to meet these for someone with similar mods cause it could be way different.

Dano 10-27-2011 12:08 PM

hum... since we are tuning timing "in the dark" with no KR for feedback its good to see the other timing curves to see if you are even in the ballpark.

Turbo/boost and VVT will not skew the numbers by very much if at all.

on pump the only reason to alter timing due to higher boost is due to higher cylinder temps which you don't have with E. so boost IMO isn't a factor

Turbo isn't a factor as well due to opinion 1 - you are not generating KR due to cylinder heat with a smaller turbo for example. The exception to this is perhaps running LESS advance with a larger turbo in the spool range to generate more exhaust gas heat. [see my retarded curve lol]

VVT is really the only variable IMO.

your timing curve will greatly depend on your mix ratio of course. the higher ratio the less each of the above will effect/limit your targets.

using a tool like VD properly, will help you to determine your individual timing needs :)

discuss...

Yeah, don't know if you guys saw this, but E85 loves it some heat:

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ed_1st-6th.jpg

Car gets smoother and smoother the hotter the BAT's get, lol.

And yes, that's a 1st-6th pull.

Dano 10-27-2011 12:15 PM

have you switched to OE heat range plugs?

I did for a brief time but thought I was getting even more blowout which turned out to be my FP sensor lol

need to put the hotter plugs back in.

Yeah, I think 140 is the tipping point. Feels really good even with stock intercooler.

Yeah, I'm running ITV20's, now. They definitely help.

you def cannot correctly gap the 20's anywhere near the .024 range.....

phate 10-27-2011 01:41 PM

LOL, working properly so far :)

XLT_66 10-27-2011 02:19 PM

On pump gas, I've always targeted 11.6. On the corn, I've been trying to nail down 11.8. However, I may end up pushing that up to 12.0 in the future to see how it goes.

I figure I'm really not looking to push it much harder than I am currently (which is pretty hard). 300HP/380TQ to the front wheels is pretty impressive in my book for a little K04 sippin' on corn juice....and that's on our heartbreakin' AWD Mustang dyno.

silvapain 10-27-2011 02:34 PM

I currently target 0.83 lambda on 100% E85. That's 12.2 on the petrol scale.

Tapadatass

Enki 10-27-2011 02:49 PM

Still dialing in .82 here; gets hot here in AZ.

Dano 10-27-2011 03:09 PM

12.2 here for me as well on E28 [3/9].

Just about 3/4 of the way through my 1st tank of E35 which I think is where I'll stay for the winter.

go 12.2 or your a huge vag :)

phate 10-27-2011 03:36 PM

LOL, I've seen .93l or so at full boost and full timing. You guys need to catch up.

I target .86l - The car went lean going from E70 to E85 without me knowing it, lol. All was fine, I love E85.

Dano 10-27-2011 03:38 PM

you sir are correct...I want to catch up...but my car had other ideas....lol

I think I am squared away now and can get back to pushing my tune.

So they are a race team and performance shop and they use a broken dyno?

Isn't that like the guys at the Apple store carrying around Android devices?

Ckmazdaspeed3 10-27-2011 03:50 PM

I seem to be kr limited at around 21° at 7k w 4 gallons. From 6k on I got spurts of up to 2.4.

Also, does anybody else have afrs go crazy after a reflash? Like, I target 12.1 and see between 11.5 and 12.8 from 5500 on for like 4 pulls. Then I end up pretty close to targeted.

Realgib3 10-27-2011 04:21 PM

A. 12.6 is as rich as I'll run.
B. Ck... that's the same point I'm knock limited with <2g

bewsted 10-27-2011 04:36 PM

Update...corn makes stock turbos cry eventually...screaching squeirrel mode for mine...

phate 10-27-2011 04:38 PM

lol, it's not just the corn that does it. It's all that abuse we throw at them for thousands upon thousands of miles - I'm just waiting for mine to croak!!

bewsted 10-27-2011 04:44 PM

It will don't worry....Good thing i have a backup in the garage HEHEHE

Dano 10-27-2011 04:54 PM

Journal bearing turbo spinning thousands of RPMs above spec for thousands of miles. Lol

Nothing to do w e85 me thinks

You both need a GTX3071 like mr 12pk. Damn I want one of those.

Correction: you need a slightly used GT28 :)

Enki 10-27-2011 05:01 PM

I'm pondering a small EFR.

haven't seen any AF craziness even on my 1st tank of E35 but it may take a couple of tanks for the ratio to settle in.

How eth heads travel out of state:

I'm at about 550-600 miles on E85, and I started losing fuel pressure tonight. FP dropping to 60 PSI when going 80 MPH is a butt-puckering experience.

LOL. That container is all too familiar.

BTW, I received my fuel line, as well as my filter today, and will be upping the mix asap!
