Okay. You make some valid points. You do what makes you happy and what you feel comfortable with. I just don't want you to give up on 100% E85 if that what you truly want to run. James and I are here to assist if you run into problems. Something to think about: before I knew how to tune correctly and was fucking around I beat the living shit out of my car. I leaned to 12.4 targeting 20 Psi at redline. Car bucked like it was a nut tied bull. Calculated load was at 2.5 at 3500 RPMs. Drove that way for a while trying to get as much power out of it as I could. I still have the same compression I did when the car was new. So, I don't think you will hurt anything. There are reasons I run E like @Enki; said, It can protect your engine. When you start running mixes, that shield goes away. Sent from my iPhone 6

| Not Ranked : 0 score We just don't know at what % you lose that bombproof feeling full corn gives; 50/50 might be just as good, and I might wind up going back to 50/50 for reasons of power as well. Time will tell, however.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Car made it to south Tahoe, and back. I am so glad I fixed my fuel level sender, makes driving the car on long road trips much more enjoyable. I lost track of my mileage do to my turbo upgrade. I'll have to read through my notes and find my stating mileage. I know I am getting close to 3000 miles. No problems... Having a great time playing with my mid sized Air compressor. Up to 320whp with fuel headroom. Sent from my iPhone 6 |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Both you @littleloogy; and @Enki; have definitely helped already, and I thank both of you for that. I went and filled up full corn today, said fuck it and going to try this out. Aiming for 20mpg & 300hp just to start (300hp easy, 20mpg will be tough with my "conditions"). I've done some more re-reading in the MPG Tooning thread, changed up some things in the tune, and will be seeing how that works. If I didn't have to use the A/C so much, I'm sure 20mpg would be easily attainable. Also, fuel level sender still works. Was acting a bit weird when around the empty level, and then stopped 1 bar short of full after filling up, MID range at 326. Then drove away from the pump, and about 15 seconds later that last bar filled and MID changed to 349. It may not be 100% accurate, but it works well enough, and that's good for me.

Hit 1850+ multiple times during the pull ... put some of that normal people fuel in the tank, like 8 or 9 gallons of it - THEN you need a 3 bar *and* a 3" intake. Although I am curious how you intend to spray Eth - none of the meth pumps are compliant, so carry on.

I almost went to a mix today actually, but I ended up leaving the pump on and walked into the gas station and buying some skittles. Maybe next time. I have my eyes open for a 3 BAR with PNP harness, but the Warden saw my turbo bill and flipped the fuck out. So I must tread lightly on my car spending. In the HPFP mod thread I'll be doing something funky with the HPFP. My goal is to modify the HPFP pump in a way that will allow a secondary fuel supply where I will be able to control injection with a valve set to open at a certain boost pressure. That's the plan anyway. Sent from my iPhone 6

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I doubt he did. The kit comes with a piston pre lubricated with assembly lube. I did run these internals on gas for a few hundred miles before making the switch to E85. Maybe the assembly lube is what caused the failure? Sent from my iPhone 6 |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Sooo. To answer your question @Easter Bunny; I used the supplied grease to lube the piston. Took the pump apart, no black death. Pulled everything apart to find the piston and the inside of the cylinder lightly marred. Happens to be right where the hole is on the cylinder. I cleaned everything up real good before the install so I doubt anything metal was left on any of the parts. Only thing I can think of is if maybe the inside of the hole had a very small burr on it from being drilled from the machining process? Im going to email IE and see what they have to say. Hopefully they take care of me. I can run my fingernail over the piston and feel where it is marked up. ![]() ![]() ![]()

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score @Etipp98; please verify with IE that every internal is tested before boxing. This pisses me off as I was told each kit was tested before boxed. Sent from my iPhone 6 |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Could very well be. I've only installed about 20 sets of internals for all the locals. Maybe I need to do some more so I know what I am doing

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well thanks for clearing that up. We have identified the problem which it is good to know was not black death. However for you its a much worse problem. Hopefully you are taken care of.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Little Update: IE just got back to me a few moments ago. They want me to ship the internals back to them so they can check the tolerances of the piston and barrel.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Update, Just got this email. "Hi Jake, We received your pump a few days ago and were able to inspect it. It appears that the problem was associated with a tolerance inside the stainless nut being slightly out of spec, which caused the cylinder to move around, causing wear on the piston and cylinder. This is not a common point of failure and the first of its kind with our fuel pumps. We have been able to measure other nuts that we have here and they are all within specification, leading me to believe that this will be the only one. We have gone through each and every component in your kit and replaced all items necessary, including the nut, seal, piston, and cylinder. We should have it boxed up and shipped back out to you no later than tomorrow. Thanks for bearing with us on this and I'm sure you will be happy with the performance to come in the future with your IE HPFP! Thank you, Cassidy Williams Integrated Engineering"
