EDIT: I would LIKE to run 10.5:1 CR if this is possible...haven't made a decision yet.
Clint@posifab.com Correct me if I'm wrong...
You'll be able to tune for 93, it just won't be your balls out map. The higher compression is going to limit how much timing and boost you can safely run on 93. Although in theory it will be making more power with the higher compression anyways so it won't be neutered on 93 either.

I plan to go with at least 10.5:1 CR (Still deciding) and I'll have mild/safe street tune made on 93 and then hop on a dyno for my all out E-mix tune. Just thinking about gets me all excited... I can't wait!!! Need complete my MMS requirements this weekend!!!

That's what I'll be doing. Or more correctly, Boost_creep LOL! No more self tuning and experimentation for me; I am done...

I have run 93 on my PosiFab pistons, but I did not do any WOT runs and check for KR.

I have been running E50: 7 gallons E85 to 6 gallons 93 (E10). I'm actually going to switch to 100% E85 today.

Assuming the same octane fuel, a higher compression engine will be more knock limited, thus more power limited. Once you remove the octane limitations (E85/WMI/MDI), you should see the real benefits of high compression. More power, better response, faster spool, and better gas mileage.

As we begin to see more high compression engines up and running, we'll get a feel for how limited they are on 93 or 91. The gas tuning (tuning in general, really) for this car has really improved over the past year or so - my feeling is with slightly raised compression (10.5 or so), you won't lose much power on good 93 compared to the stock 9.5:1. Pure speculation, so take that with a grain of salt for now, lol.

Also, with higher compression, there is generally a shift of MBT to the left (faster flame front). Less timing is needed, so starting out conservatively is recommended. The street is not the place to tune for MBT, especially with a new hardware setup like this. Results will be posted with peak timing curves and any observations; good or bad.

Is there any difference between running the stock wrist pin size ((22.5mm)) than running the 22mm ones?

Out wrist pin size is good, and there's no reason to go with a smaller one. Everything else the same, the 22mm pin size isn't quite as strong.

The 22mm wrist pin is a very common size in the import world, but the 22.5mm is the stock, but less common size. From what I understand, the MZR DISI options never should have included a 22mm design, and it was a bit of a mistake, haha. But, they were made, then pistons were made...and now we have two wrist pin sizes.

Realistically, either will work fine. For the sake of simplicity, we're only offering these pistons with 22.5mm pins.

Ok, so im thinking of pulling the trigger on these pistons.. Would it be absurd to run 11:1 CR stock bore with GTX3076, Meth, and 5th port on 94 oct fuel?

If not, it's easy enough to have a shop rewind the starter motor for more amperage. It's the same process as rewinding alternators to put out more power for big car audio systems.

Does the starter seem to have to work harder with your 10.5 comp?

I've had no problems with my starter turning my engine over, and it's the original starter. It had been five months since I drove the car last so I can't honestly remember how easily the car started before, but I don't see anything that would lead me to believe it's having a hard time turning over.

I don't see any issue's with this setup, but it's all going to be dependent on your tune, make sure whoever is tuning you knows you are running 11:1cr. You will have to be conservative when running only 94oct and make sure you don't run out of meth. If you have ethanol available to you I would recommend running a mix.

My end build will be similar to this, but with eth and a bigger turbo.

Just so everyone knows, Wiseco has been picking up the pace on these. Our latest order is expected to be completed in 2 weeks and 4 days including engineer time. It will be about another 5 days for shipping after that, so just over 3 weeks total.

OP updated with who is running what pistons to make it easier to find build threads.

Yes silvapain is up and running, however he is having some problems with spark blow during WOT while running full E85, as I am sure you know. The issues he is having are the exact same issue's I was having with stock gen 1 pistons, so I find highly unlikely they are related to the piston design, which I am sure is what you are eluding to.

Since he is currently the only one up and running, and just started the answer to your second question is no. Since you posted in my build thread I am assuming you noticed that I will be swapping my head shortly after my initial build which should be done this month, and I will be inspecting the pistons at that point though I don't expect to find any issues.

I have looked down into the pistons with the plugs out, and they look clean. What is it specifically that you are looking for?

I believe that my blowout at WOT is due to cold temps and 100% E85. I will be testing lower Ethanol content soon to verify.

No scope unfortunately. I just hit 1,000 miles on the new engine.
