The door handle has been painted before but the paint obviously came off. Any suggestions on durable paint? As far as the scratches on the center console flap, not sure what to use. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well when I went to ask about the door handle piece, the parts district manager was there and said in order to actually replace it, the whole door had to be replaced. I looked at him with a lolwut face.

In a locals 2010 we sanded them down with a 2000 grit sand paper them primer then a texture paint then black then a flat clear coat. It turned out really nice and they had some texture to them. Easy cheap and looks way better. We painted ALL silver and the black/red dot crap trim too. Wish I had pictures I'd show you but we painted the ac controls as well taking that apart wasn't to bad the only other thing we had issues with was disassembling the ashtray piece and the cup holders. I think it's a great idea and makes the interior not look so ghey... Just my $0.02.

Nice, might look into the black pieces. 230 for the center pieces is fucking stupid. I'd rather paint them black myself...

Black door handle pieces that is*

Was that Cody's car? Which is gone now I think. But I saw it when I was up there and it looked pretty damn fly. It would look great with that JBR textured knob.

I removed the silver paint on mine. Wetsand and polish. Comes off very easily. Looks a thousand times better than the generic looking silver paint.

Vinyl wrapping them is easy. I did the 3m carbon on mine and they look pretty good.

For the center (HVAC vents/controls, stereo, gearshift surround) I took it all apart and painted color-matched to the car. Not everyones cup-o-tea, but I think it came out great.

i have a gen1 and bought new trim pieces for a regular 3 in black.. it looks so much better. the silver stuff in the 3 is trying to look all fancy but ends up looking cheap when it scratches the first time you sneeze on it. the black is just there, you don't notice it at all..
i also ended up painting all the center console stuff black as well. it looks so much better. you guys should do it!

the wrapping looks clean, but the carbon next to the red-dot fabric makes me feel ill...

^and you with the wet sanding.. it looks like shit in that pic.

Nothing screams cheap car like silver painted interior pieces. I fucking hate the person that came up with that idea. Every car company seems to do it and it looks generic as hell. I blacked out the silver and chicken pox panels in mine and it looks ten times better.

Can you show a pic of your center console?

Here is one. I'm getting my car back from the dealer today - I can take more if you want.

Looks good. How did you get the trim around the a/c knobs off?

It's pretty easy.
You just have to remove about everything around it (stereo, center air duct, trim panels, etc). Take the HVAC unit out and the trim panel is held on by a couple screws.

What was a PITA though was the stereo. Had to take the whole damn thing apart including all the buttons and little clear plastic pieces that light up blue. That took some time.
