Epic Brake Dust Is it me or.... I don't think it's me but the front wheels pick up a RIDICULOUS amount of brake dust - and I drive pretty normally. Okay, after 10 laps around VIR they were basically black. I used to have an Alfa autocross car and I thought the Italian stock pads were bad, then I got the Mazda. What is everyone using to clean/prevent? Is there a way to prevent? I feel like I am washing my front wheels weekly! |
What is VIR? Is it a race track in Westchester? I am from Dutchess and intrigued. |

Oh yes. I just use a basic wheel cleaner, and it comes right off. |
it is annoying.. caused me to buy new pads even though they car doesnt NEED new pads.. |
Rim Wax my friend. RIM WAX - RIM AND WHEEL WAX AND PROTECTANT |
I saw a commercial for this stuff: Armor All - Product Detail Not sure if it works as well as the video shows but I'm going to try it. |

If you wax your wheels (I only do it twice a year) the dust doesn't stick nearly as bad. You don't need to use fancy wax though, I just use the same Meguiars gold class I use for my car. |
How much did it cost for you to run ur car at VIR. I have been really interested in getting some track time in on one of my cars. Tired of just going as fast as I can straight haha |

If your washing your car once a week no big deal! I find using Pledge anti static works awesome, I used this on rear rim of motorcycle to make getting rid of chain grease on rear rim easier worked like a charm been using this on automotive wheels every since I they came out with no fling chain lube! Just make sure not to spray on rotor!! Possibly spray on cloth generously and wipe off, brake dust will just come right off even in the rain LOL! |
