Default Raise the roof...rack.

Looking to drop a couple bens on a roof rack. Have searched but haven't come to the conclusion of what rack to buy. Im leaning towards the Yakima, but thule makes a decent product too. Im using it for a BMX bike I'm about to purchase as well.

Any suggestions would be good.

Currently I'm looking at the Yakima base roof rack with 4 control towers, 48" crossbars, landing pad 11, end caps, 44" fairing, viper bike attachment, and set of 6 locks. price came out to be $608.00

Im just looking for some more input before I drop that kind of money.

Thanks

Unless I'm going camping and need the box on top, the racks is off the car. You definitely notice a difference in gas mileage.

I just got the Thule 460r and the 47 inch aero bars and a rocky mounts euro pitch fork. Bought it all from amazon. I forget what it cost me but was right around 500.

lulz, I drive in the city so my gas mileage is already shit anyways. If I was concerned about gas, I would've bought a damn prius or smart car.

Back on topic, anything about the Yakimas that people do or don't like?

Yakimas are good, I used to run one for a long time. And the gas mileage wasn't brought up because any of us worry about it, but at 4+ a gallon you are retarded not to at least think about it. This is what I'm running: Thule 400xt AEROS with cut down square load bars w/ 44" fairing, and barrecrafters double bike rack (like Yakima Raptor). I paid $115 for everything after piecing it together solely from clist.

I own that exact Yakima setup. It is awesome for bike racks but not so much for kayaking as the racks rotate on the round bars. So for me the thules would have been better but other than that the racks are great.

I went with Mazda, fits perfect and came with four little plastic spoiler clip on pieces for the front bar to reduce drag and wind noise. I work @ the stealership, think retail is $375ish but cost on the part is only $282.48. Wind noise isn't bad and it was a super easy put together/install.

I'm going to get Thule when time comes. I had both in the past for the same car (got the Yakima stolen at Lake Louise, Yakima was good but I found that Thule locked better and had a better fit than Yakima.

I hope this help.

Sorry to bring this thread up from the dead but anyone know the q-clips used to clip into the rain gutter slots too?

I have this roof rack sitting in my garage from my old car with bike attachment and would like to put it on the speed.

Qclips don't clip on to rain gutters the clip in between door . Control towers screw onto rain gutter mounting holes.
