Typical Gen 2 face lift and the truth about next mod front lips

My son is a professional painter with access to three paint booths and did a little painting for me last weekend. Plan was to do the typical rear bumper, fog light bezel black out, add a pair of the black Factory Mazda bumper guards. and install and paint a Next mod front lip. As for all the rumors of poor quality lips produced by next mod, all I can say is they are all true. We decided to remove the rear bumper as it came off really easy, and was a lot easier then masking up the whole car and it wouldn't take up a complete production booth all weekend long. Flat black out paint with a satin finish is DuPont Hot hues "Hot rod black". Rear bumper and bezels took just a light scuffing, a shot of adhesion promoter, prior to three medium wet coats of the black with a little flex additive mixed in to avoid cracking down the road.
The front lip was a different story. At least 4 coats of high build primer, lots and lots of sanding, grinding, and test fits. prior to two light coats of sealer and three coats of the black.
Tough thing about using this type of paint is, its a one time deal. what comes out of the gun is what you get. there's no wet sanding or buffing once its layed down.
I think it turned out okay.

Next up is to get the factory wheels powder coated or replaced with some after market. and Engine mod's.

I've seen a lot of people using the plastic dip for this stuff and it looked fine, and I thought about using the stuff for about 2 seconds. The shop my son works for does about 50% Muscle cars, rods, and high end restorations, and I occasionally work for them on the side doing mechanical stuff engine, suspension installs, wiring etc. If I would have rattle canned it, I would have never heard the end of it, and since I already owned the paint, left over for another project and don't have to pay for any supplies or labor. I couldn't pass it up. LOL

Yah I think your right. Luckily I bought it off Ebay for $150 not the $280 they list it for on there site. I told my son about the problems other people had installing them and he said He could fix it. For $280 you should get a part that fits with no mod's.

Thats A current list. Cars and bikes are my main interest. It's a sickness.LOL
The wife normally drives the GTI during the week, and I drive the speed. Mustang and Duster normally are driven on the weekends.
