Obviously it doesn't come with a manual transmission in ecoboost form which sucks. But it has the same 2.0L Ecoboost as the Ford Focus which means most parts should be swappable ala Focus ST.

The problem is they only offer a manual with the 1.6 EB and FWD. If you want the 2.0 EB and AWD, you're forced to go with an auto..... lame sauce.

Hopefully they change that mid year like they did on the focus.

I'd be more interested if a manual transmission was offered in the higher trim levels. I'm waiting to see the direction the redesigned Mazda 6 will take. The current generation is so uninspiring and I very much miss my five-speed '06 iSport that I was able to get with the moonroof/BOSE package.

I think it is a pretty nice ride. It isn't really much of an upgrade though. You will compromise some performance overall and lose the exclusivity you have with the MS6...

Why not just have both? Keep the MS6 and supplement it with a nice, more refined car like this new Focus.

They don't offer the manual with the 2.0 EB in either FWD or AWD. So the bigger problem is settling for the 1.6 engine if you want a manual.

If it has the same "auto" that the fiesta has I'd be happy. Dual clutch would be the next best thing. I prefer a 6 speed but a dual clutch auto would be alright.

The 2.0L 6 Speed Ecoboost uses the ford 6F35 Transmission With PowerShift. I dont think its dual clutch but I can't find anything definitive on it. It seems like a newer better transmission than others, but again theres little on it.

The Fiesta/Focus transmission is called "PowerShift" and it is a Dual Clutch transmission. But I think it's limited to europe.

I doubt it. All options for the Fusion are I4. Plus they dont want to compete with the taurus.

I believe the car is built off the old Mondeo. The 2013 Ford Mondeo and Fusion will be built on the same platform so there seems to be some hope for the car. And lets be honest, after driving the notchiest and hardest to learn gearbox in this Speed6, I'm almost ready for paddles. I think there is some hope for the 2.0L ecoboost but I don't it'll ever be able to produce what the speeds are capable of. Still a nice saloon though.

Yep, its built off the Mondeo. The Mondeo also has a Dual Clutch Transmission that may be able to be mated up to the Fusion. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm actually considering looking at the 1.6 MT option. Most of the reviews right now are favoring it's handling over the heavier 2.0 AT. And the MPG would be welcome!
