Meh personally i think that is a terrible idea.
I work in networking and wireless is not stable enough for me to want it to be writing data to my ECU, one bit gets mixed up or whatnot bricked ecu. There are ways you could make there that doesnt happen but i would imagine it would be slower reflashing than just plugging in and doing it that way. I like cables lol

CrawlingMS3 07-23-2013 07:16 AM

Damn, I love this v3. Time to sell my AP and upgrade...if only I had $200 extra bucks to cover the rest after I sold it... :banghead:

Flashing time and logging rates are also tied to the ecu itself. Even with v2b a gen2 flashes and logs at a higher rate than a gen1.

This is something I'm interested in finding out. I had assumed that the 44% number was for Mazdas, but it's possible, since that was quoted from the dealer guidebook for all v3s, that we'll flash slower than, say, the Subaru. It's all speculation until someone with a stopwatch tests it out.

they should make a red face plate so that it matches my red cobb knob.

I'm subbing to this thread because I'd be extremely interested in a trade-in program.

As with any product, the used-market value will change when a newer iteration is released.

ABolewski 07-23-2013 09:20 AM

True, it'd be hard to beat just reselling here and getting a new AP, even with the convenience that trading in would offer.
Looks way sexy though Cobb can't wait to get my hands on one next year.

I'm sure it will, but here (I'm not in the US) with taxes and everything a brand new accessport will cost nearly 800$.

Will the AP v3 release be followed by new ATR features ?

Enki 07-23-2013 10:40 AM

Will those of us that trade in be able to leave the car flashed? I've got a full tank of 50/50 with a 3.5" intake and something tells me it won't even start on a stock tune.

Edit:
Maybe lock the new one to the same VIN/ECUID as the old one to prevent fraud/theft.

Speaking with aaron at cobb on the phone this morning he's interpretation of the trade in program is you don't send your old one back tell you have received the new one. You then send the old v2 back and once its been received they will refund x amount for the trade in value they have set for it

This is the usual way that I have done trade-in with network equipment. You pay the trade-in plus a depot that they give you back when they receive it.

In before NOOOOOOOO!

For a limited time, exclusively through COBB, trade in your Version 2 Accessport for up to 50% off a brand new Accessport V3. Join the big screen, mountable, 6-monitor revolution of in-cabin tuning.

:)

ckMS3 07-23-2013 12:29 PM

Says $325 rebate. Buy the new v3 then send in the old v2 to receive the rebate.

Trade in program is awesome, especially since you could sell gauges to pay for the rest :D

BigRedSpecial 07-23-2013 01:12 PM

Thanks Cobb, now I need to decide if I want to sell my DashDaq for this or not...

I'll be interesting to see where V2 resale goes now.

m4tic 07-23-2013 01:15 PM

It pretty much sounds like if it works then you get the full credit and I don't think there is an actual application to fill out. At least, I can't find one.

It is a little vague. Trying to get the fine print on this but they are swamped with calls I am sure. This makes the tune and AP combo that much sweeter if you just send your old AP in.

Just got off the phone with aaron at cobb again. Thus far the trade in program is directly though cobb only. They posted a link on the facebook page, follow that step by step, they will be providing a return shipping label in the box. Once received he estimated about 1 to 2wks for the 325 refund. Hope this helps everyone

If that's the case it's going to upset a lot of their vendors.

Yes it must be unmarried they will verify it functions and that it is in fact unmarried before issuing the rerund credit. Remember you don't send the old one back tell you've received the new one so there should be no issues for anyone who logs and monitors daily, you'll have your functioning v2 until the v3 arrives.
