Per the info on the link

"Instructions:
Purchase a new upgrade eligible V3 Accessport for your application here: click here for products.
Once your new product arrives, follow the included instructions to Uninstall (un-marry) your current Accessport from your vehicle.
Please make sure to back up all of your maps with Accessport Manager.
Pack all V2 components in your V3 box or similar sized package.
Use the return shipping label included with your V3 to send the V2 back to us.
Once received, COBB will verify your Accessport has been correctly uninstalled and will process your refund for half the V3 purchase amount (minus tax and shipping). If you have any questions about this process, please email support@cobbtuning.com or call 866-922-3059

Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing.

When I can order through edge with our msf discount snd only pay 635 shipped, but then I have to deal with selling it on my own. Won't be hard but the ease of trade in is nice.

My question is what is going to happen to the support on the V2.
Will it eventually be phased out and not get updates?

read the website man, it specifically states once they get your old v2 AP it will take 1-2 weeks to get your refund.

ATR will remain the same, along with AP manager. So all those updates you will still get.

This frees up new customers that will buy new APs instead of used ones (if they are ok with $650) so I see the point but let's hope there are still enough new people to the AP.

Trade in cost is a little more than I expected, I don't think I will do it. From my understanding the price of the AP is mainly R&D on the software, so essentially paying $325+ for new hardware is a bit much for my taste. If it was a bit cheaper I bet there would be much more people taking advantage of the offer, which is a shame.

Agreed I still want it but at this point looks like it might be more profitable to buy from a vendor and sell my old ap

Yup, shame. Used value of the V2 will drop, but nowhere near $325. Everyone is better off buying V2s used here- I seriously doubt Cobb is going to drop their $600 V2s below $450.

Whatever Cobb sets their new V2 price at- there's your adjustment to the used market. And since we know this number is greater than $325, you can bet most folks will sell rather than trade in. And most will prefer to buy used than Cobb's new price.

They didn't think this through well enough.

I am about 99% positive the new V2 price is $550 ish dollars.

so v2 used prices will not drop that much at all.

It is going to be a better deal to buy a V3 from a vendor, since they usually sell them below MSRP if you PM them and ask.

Than sell your V2 on here for $400-$450 or whatever the price drops too, it wont be less than $400 imo.

Exactly- new V2 pricing affects the used market adjustment, not V3 pricing, the existence of a V3 or V2 trade-in value. Cobb didn't crunch their numbers if they were actually attempting to take a bite out of the used market. Fail.

my ap is kind of beat up, i dont think i'll get 400. i suppose people with a haggard ap will benefit a little by trading in.

Well if they were smart, they should offer a trade in price for the first few months that would be hard to turn down. This will allow them to get rid of a good portion of the older AP versions so that future buyers will be forced to buy the new ones. Its not like the Version 3 has a high unit cost.

You realize you pay the full cost up front right? Depending on if you get charged sales tax its 700 you'll be needing on friday. They don't take off the 325 at time of purchase. They refund that 1 to 2 weeks after they've received your old v2 ap

No wireless communication is to easy to mess with. I got an experiment for you. Go put a microwave next to your wireless router like right next to it. Turn it on I bet your wireless connects drop or at least get very slow. Have a bunch of your buddies like 15 to 20 over all hooked onto your WiFi see what happens.

Wireless interfears on its self when u get to enterprise level wireless you wouldn't believe the hoops some jump through to try and keeep it from doing that. Wireless is not a good choice no matter what form to flash an ecu

Wireless devices are flashed, wirelessly, all the time, it's a matter of planning for and dealing with signal loss, corruption of data and interruption of service; most hardware with critical 'firmware' maintains two copies of the image and checksums are used to verify from sender and receiver; to implement this in a car/ECU scenario you would need a dongle/receiver with enough storage to hold the image, enough intelligence to do consistency checks on what was sent and once received enough to commit it, the risky part here is the actual flash, doing it wirelessly would likely be SAFER as you would have less chance at inadvertently disconnecting the flimsily connected (at least in the case of the v2 that I have) AP.

And to be clear I have never been disappointed with what the AP does, nor what I paid for it (we are paying for a software license, though they don't make that very clear other than locking the interface to your car). To a new user the v3 is a great deal better then it is to a person using a v2 that has already found a way around the mostly useless single function monitor and very awkward to mount device; I spent 50 dollars on a smartphone app called dash command and $100 on a OBDII dongle that connects wirelessly to that app and I can monitor/log everything I want with arguably a better interface.

I'm not saying it can't be done wirelessly i just seen no added benefit to it when it can be done much cheaper with a simple cable.

As far as wireless monitoring that is all well and good. But to make sure flashing data is sent properly wireless the added cost wouldn't be worth it. And I am sure if that function was ever setup it would cost more to buy that ap

Hey guys

I've searched around and cannot see anything on this subject

Wanting to know when logging with the V3 what Hz is running down the bottom.

I have a GenII and mine was running 17-20Hz which produces intervals on average 0.045s

Mate of mine is running a GenI and his V3 is running at 7-9Hz and he is only getting intervals of 0.112. Which is similar to a V2

I have read that GenI ECU is slightly slower, but his intervals are really much slower

He contacted Cobb and they express posted a replacement for him ASAP, but on loading the new one, still having the same issue

Anyone have any idea about the Hz and how it is measured and what might be the problem?

I am not sure how they exactly measure logging rate but Hz are a frequency unit. 1 Hz = 1 sample or period per second.

A quick way to convert a period into frequency is 1 / period = frequency.

So if you take the length of time between samples and perform a 1 / length of time it should return the logging frequency.

The logging rate on gen1 cars is indeed quite a bit slower than on gen2. In my particular logs with the V3 on my gen1, I see a calculated logging rate average of 8.3Hz using the method described above. The max was 9.6Hz and min was 7.2Hz in the same log.
