Think people with the rubber stoppers or pvc plugs saying they were using clamps my have been putting them in the hose not the port on the intake. That's the only way I can see a plug and clamp setup working.

I'm not interested in running any kind of a plug. I'd prefer a cap.

If there's even a remote possibility that the plug could fail and get sucked into the turbo, I'm not fucking with it. Always better safe than sorry.

no way will mine make it into the turbo. the cap is the same diameter as the tip inlet and it's in the hose very tight.

Oh, it is.

But, the car drives great. No crazy fuel trims, hesitation, or popping. Did a 50 mile drive and everything was fine. Even had a run in with a modded Volvo S70 wagon.

I was surprised how quick it was, but not quick enough. I think the giant Ikea sticker on the back window was slowing him down.

Guess ill get to ordering the vta half of my Tial soon. I still cant figure out which spring to run on that one. -11psi? in which case there are 2 options.

You are ALL ricers.

If you plug the bottom port on the OEM BPV, it will help the valve stay sealed at idle and low loads.

Hopefully with this new feature on the GA, the VTA people won't have to play around with springs at all.

The OEM BPV is very much driveable in VTA with this feature. The OEM BPV is probably a worse case scenario as it's not driveable VTA otherwise due to how much it leaks. Just waiting on testing a few other BPVs.

Im gonna order the bottom half Q and the two springs i think ill need.
I don't need the GA for this right? Just the GA makes it all easier plus the added benefits of what it was designed for.

its good for a group to have a set of ideals in common...I am pretty sure this civic had a turbo and his BOV was def VTA....

So I'm inner ricer came out today. Running my greddy in vta, plugged the recirc hose. Impressions: shifting seems smoother, only one little afterfire but afrs don't seem any differant between shifts, sounds pretty sick

Questions, if I left off the gas at 0 psi or alittle less I have a turkey gobble, it did this under recirc as well, is this surge?

I've been running VTA for 18k of my 24k miles...I figured this out a long time ago. Recirc slows down spool. The reason is that the air is being forced back down into the turbo, slowing it down. Therefore it needs to build back up even more. When the air isnt forced in it slows down slightly, causing it to have to spool less rpms. Also with VTA the valve can open/close faster, which in turn also helps spool time.

The one thing I found is the most affected with VTA is when traction control interferes. The car seems to fall on its face more than with recirculating due to the throttle being closed and the pressure oscillations causing the BPV to open and close.

so it sounds like if you are one of the lucky to have the stock BPV stay sealed at idle, than you can run it VTA w/o major issues? i tested my BPV a while back with a pump and it opened at 15inHg, meaning i'd have problems at idle and deceleration.

That's what I'm saying. The bearings support thrust movements (lateral to the radial axis) really well on bb turbochargers. Journal bearing besides having journal bearings usually have a thrust bearing which looks like a big c clip that sits in a race supported by oil. But the extra load pushing on the shaft assembly causes metal to metal contact sine the oil film is pushed away.

Lol, seems like everyone is missing the point.

I made this thread to show that a feature can be added to the GA so y'all can rice out with any BPV VTA.

Instead this turned into - hey man, can I just run VTA as is? How does it sound?

Simple answer - if your BPV is open at idle and low load, running VTA is not pretty unless you have *something* in place to close the valve under those conditions. That *something* is what I'm working on.

Lol yea we did get a bit excited. In before ms3 start showing up in the rice of the day thread.

But on another note, im gonna try my TiAl Q. As is she shudders when i come off throttle slowly while in boost. So its either all off or stay on. Hopefully the Q will help venting. I rather have it constantly do something then having to mess with throttle. As for the beta shift tables. I have no idea where to even start there. That would be nice for the pro's to shed light on.
